What have you been watching?

'Shutter'- Excellent Thai horror film, following in a similar vein to some of the well know J-horror 'vengeful ghost' stylies. Has an excellent of a twist at the end.

'Into the mirror' - Another film following the Vengeful ghost theme. This time from Korea. A great script. Kept me gripped right to the end.

Shinobi - Heart Under Blade

For the money, this was a great film. Manga style ninja fighting done in a live action film is very much black and white: it's either very good or v. poor, as it were. This one however pulls it off and is one of the best films I've seen of it's ilk for quite some time. What is billed as a 'Romeo and Juliet'-esque action adventure let's action and larger than life characters overshadow the seen it all before forbidden/tragic/bothered? love story. Some interestingly mad skills (Watch out for the guy with the sleeves!) and quite tight production - this one did not drag... ahem Seven Swords... kept a good pace and felt kind of somber, even understated, for all it's lively, colourful, manga-like action sequences. Very pretty to look at too, I must say.

Personally this is the first film that I've managed to watch all the way through in one sitting for quite some time (maybe it's me...), so just for that it gets top marks. But aside from my personal issues, it's an enjoyable ninja romp, well worth a watch (!) and one which I'm guessing will spawn a pointless, unrelated sequel... I'm getting in early with that one...

I watched Shinobi the other night. Great film. Spectacular fight scenes and impressive effects. A shame they chose to market the movie so heavily of the love story aspect, as it is actually quite secondary to the main plot. Its mainly full on martial arts action and mayhem. Excellent stuff!

Ghostbusters - One of my favourite films, the whole film is just excellent!

Ghost System - Haven't watched it fully yet but it seems to have a haunting atmosphere to it.

Just finished watching The Pang boys new film Re-Cycle, and I hae to admit to being quite disappointed. great premise poorly executed
