90th Anniversary Battle of Passchendaele and Death of Jeffries VC
A special service to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the First World War Battle of Passchendaele and the death of Captain Clarence Jeffries VC and 111 Hunter Valley men of the 33rd, 34th, 35th and 36th Infantry Battalions on 12th October 1917 will be held at St Luke’s Anglican Church, Brown Street, Wallsend on Friday 12th October 2007 commencing at 7.30 pm.
All families and descendents of Hunter Valley men who fought at Passchendaele in these battalions are invited to attend. Medals to be worn and floral tributes may be placed during the service. A light supper will follow in the Parish Hall.
