Re: 15th Battalion -
Thanks for the help guys, have now got Lyntons papers from The National Archives which fills in a few more gaps. However something puzzles me on his attestation paper. He is listed as joining a light horse regiment, presumably this mob was dismounted and became part of the 15th before shipping off to alexandria. The name of the light horse is not clear but looks like ...nualloter or mualloter, the date is March 2nd. 1915 (the poor kid had less than 5 months to live) Any suggestions as to the light horse regiment?

Re: 15th Battalion -
Could it be 'muleteer' i.e. person in chage of mules? Only suggesting this becasue i have seen a photo of a LH machine gun squadron with mules, rather than horses.

Re: 15th Battalion -
My Grandfather Thomas James Carey 866 15 Bat was killed 8-9 May 1915.I am in posession of most of his personal items [medals, grave plaque etc] including his official notebook with a day by day diary of his landing on Gallipoli. In this diary are mentioned these names Falconer,Mansfield,Nicholson,Weel,Taylor,Greenwood,Peachy,Lay****,Carrol,McManus,Black,Smith,Newall,Bennett or Burnett,Oconnor,Ashwood,McCann,Scott,Flanaghan,Whitely,Clarke,Penn,Broadnock?,McCarthy,McKay,Barden?,Edwards,Newell,Intrup,McLennan?,Lamy,McAndrew,Mathers,Luxton,Hardaker,Wells,Faulkner,Cowell,Hughes,Simons,Peterson,McClean?,Ineson,Bracker,Upson,Fulham,Hodge,McPherson. I would assume that these men were part of his F Company on board S.S.Australind which took them to Gallipoli. I also have a photo of what looks like a company of men taken at Enoggera camp in which I have identified my grandfather from other photos. Anybody interested contact me. richardcarey@dodo.com.au

Re: 15th Battalion -
Hi Paul
I'm trying without any success to get a photocopy of the History of the 15th Battalion. I only need the section up to the end of the August Offensive on Gallipoli. I've put an advert in a couple of Brisbane papers but no replies. Living in the UK its very difficult to get anything done!! I'm very happy to send any costs involved in advance. If you or anyone else can help me i'd be very grateful.
cheers mate

Re: 15th Battalion -
hi Guys, this board has been a little quiet lately!! Thought you might like to have a look at some pics I have taken recently of Western Front sites, Pozieres, Thiepval, Ypres and so on. As I update the site I'll keep you informed. Living so far away from europe some of you may have not had the opportunity to visit. Will be visiting some other 15th Battalion places in the spring.
