3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance unit history
Hi all,
In another thread I mentioned that I was transcribing the unit history of the 3LHFA which I had obtained from the AWM and had been placing the transcription on my website as each chapter was completed.
I have contacted the AWM to clarify the copyright situation and it turns out the document was written privately by the C.O., Col. Gerald Stuart DSO, after he left the army and as it has never been published it is still under copyright. Consequently I'll be taking the transcription down in the next few days.
Breach of copyright or not, if anyone here wants a copy of the transcription, either the original XHTML or as a PDF, let me know and I'll e-mail it you when it's all completed -- at the rate I am going, probably early next year.

Geoff,
I would be very pleased to have a copy of the 3rd L.H. Fd. Amb.Unit history upon completion. I would like a copy for my own personal research, and would not be publishing or on selling the work, so I do not think that would breach any copyright restrictions.
I will e-mail you off-line my details if that is OK with you.

As for approval, the AWM mentioned two courses I could take; locate the next-of-kin of Col. Gerald Eugene M. Stuart and seek their permission or apply for some sort of "special dispensation" from the Copyright Council of Australia. I'm not inclined to attempt either at this stage though I would welcome any advice or guidance.
Steve, what did you have in mind for the nominal roll? I would be happy to put any 3LHFA information you have (and were willing to part with) on my website.

I have just come across this post board. I have sent emails to the postings but have received no replies. I wish to obtain a copy of the book.
GEM Stuart was my Uncle. Only surviving family are myself, two browthers and a sister. We never knew this document existed. Our family never mentioned the war.
I would very much like to get in touch with Geoff (gsi) and anyone who can tell me about my Uncle.
