Toronto Avenue Cemetry
All,
Has anyone been to or taken pictures of Toronto Ave Cemetry in Belgium. I tried in Vain last year using Laffins Western Front Guide to find the place but could not tract it down.
Its the only cemetry on the Western Front that contains only Australian graves. mainly from the 3rd Division and of which 30+ were from the 33rd Battalion from Northern NSW.
Im pretty sure I followed Laffins directions to a T. Unfortunately it was early morning and had left my Michellin maps in the hotel room.

Hi Jonty
Maybe someone on the British Army forum can help if you don't get any responses here.

Re: Toronto Avenue Cemetry
Andrew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That would start a feeding frenzy among the chooms. There would be another record set as they all recorded their stories about Aussies not being able to read {Jonty} or draw {Laffin} Maps.
Jonty! Half Joking, mate. The site has lotsa good stuff, has a virtual tour of cemeteries, and lotsa Pals are willing to take photos for you.
First up try the good old CWGC site, Change the Search from Casualty to Cemetery. It also mentions the T. There is also an Aust War Graves site worth a look.
Good Hunting
Pat
Co-incidently, this seems to be the cemetery I mentioned under the Messines Thread, when the Belgian Lady commented on the Australian Tunnellers,

As well as the photo on the CWGC site, the site An Unfortunate Region has photos of a large number of CWGC cemeteries and memorials. Toronto Avenue is here:-

Re: Toronto Avenue Cemetry
A mate of mine was taken to this Cemetery by John Laffin and he remembers it as the best and most moving cemetery he visited on the Western Front. I believe it is at the end of a lane and requires a short walk. A very beautiful resting place for the Diggers. I will ask my mate if he has any photos, but from memory, he was there on a wet and cold day, so may not have taken any snaps.

Re: Toronto Avenue Cemetry
All,
Thanks for this. Graeme, thanks for your assistance on Toronto. I guess I'll go back again and spend more time in that region and find it.
