Moquet Farm
looking for info on the Battle at Moquet Farm in France
on the 3rd September 1916,also on 51st and 52 Aust Infantry
Battalions for the same time.

Mouquet Farm was one of the most tragic Australian experiences of 1914-18. AWM used to have a very impressive Diarama dedicated to it. 51st Battalion was from W.A., & was created from the 16th Bn after Gallipoli. Have you checked Bean, vol.3 ? It has over 100 pages on Mouquet Farm (& that's how Bean spells it).

Walked up the Mouquet Farm hill just a few weeks ago. Attack came from the downslope of Pozieres.......the whole 4th Brigade suffered terribly (I am obsessed with the 15th). Very good idea of the 14th's involvement from the Biography of Mad Harry Murray - helped me pace out exactly where the trench lines were (tom's cut etc etc), and the mess of the battle where the middle action and the right flank action gets messy because of the bend of the OG defending lines.
The walk from "Gibralter", past the 1st Div Memorial, down, then up the slope is extremely evocative, because you have the infamous windmeill on your right, and the enormous British Thiepval Memorial pretty much in front of you.

Mate,
If you go to the webb site 1914-1918 and check out there discussion page there was a question about this battle.
look for a question relating to the 4th Canadian Mounted Regt.
When the Canadians took over our front their patrols found three soldiers from the 51st Bn in on man's land. They had been there for days as two were wounded and the only fit bloke stayed with them to look after them.
