Mate,
Check out the book I mentioned on the LH site.
"Hooves Wheels and Tracks" by David Holloway.
It gives details of the action and Kelly is mentioned a number of times.

I'm puzzled by this subject heading. The date and name Kemmel Hill suggest the First Battle of Kemmel Hill, part of the Battle of the Lys. I was not aware that the 4th ALH fought there, though I know that the 1st Australian Division was based South of Meteren. I await enlightenment.

Robert,
I am new to researching WWW1 records so open for corrections ,
Daniel Kelly went to France with the two squadrons of
4th L H which became part of 1st Anzac LH, then part of
2nd Anzac LH and finally XX11 Corps Mounted Troops sometimes
referred to as 22nd LH , this info was conveyed to me by Doug Hunter of the Light Horse Association Forum
His brother Peter was with him at this time & He was awarded a MM from the book "Hooves,Wheels & Tracks" by David Holloway that I have just purchased the book said 16th april 1918 records say 18th

Saw an AWM pic of a forlorn looking ALH trooper/horse in the snows of northern France. Quite the contrast from Palestine.

I suppose your referring to kemmel hill in the ypres sector. The sector was fought over very highly and mostly occupied by french battalions.
Your trooper could be on their as in the ficinity is a small town called loker were the 13th ALH had their billets. I will try to find out more in a week or so when iam in wipers again.
