Re: 25th Frontiersmen Battalion Royal Fusiliers
Hi Nigel,
I can tell you quite a bit about this Battalion, because it was basicially my Great Grandfather who got them together. Theye were predominantly a group associated with the Legion of Frontiersmen, an organization created by Roger Po****. The best place to read about it all is on the following website: http://www.frontiersmenhistorian.info/fusiliers.htm
There are also numerous books that talk about the exploits of the 25th in East Africa and also the LOF as an organization, but the website above should give you a pretty good insight into what they did.
Thanks, Nigel Driscoll

Re: 25th Frontiersmen Battalion Royal Fusiliers
Hi Nigel,
Thanks for your reply.
I am still trying to figure out how this forum works so I hope I am doing this correctly. I am also a little surprised at the actions of the moderators of this forum and by the look of the message trail, it has illicited a lot of comment from other people too. Anyway I see that my reference to the author of the book on the history of the LOF has had his name censored!
On the subject of the 25th Btn Royal Fusiliers, I too am surprised at how little there is in the way of photographic and written record. One of the Australian arms of the LOF recently purchased a photo of my Great Grandfather, Lt Col Daniel Driscoll, taken by Cherry Kearton, but there doesn't seem to be much else around.
Anyway having said that, if you are feeling very wealthy, you might want to check this book out:
25th (Service) Bn Royal Fusiliers (Frontiersmen) Photographs.
[?GIDDINGS, (Sgt Kitchener)]
It's available for 750 pounds at Maggs Rare Books.

Thanks, Nigel Driscoll
