McLeod, Alexander John and Leslie John
I was touched to see a memmorial window in a small Anglican Church in Yarra Glen (Victoria) dedicated to three brothers, two killed just months apart in 1915, the other killed in WWII. I have done some research (National Australian Archives online has a large number of documents) as follows.
Alexander John McLeod (No.1709), 7th Battalion killed in action Gallipoli Peninsular 16.8.1915 and buried at Shrapnel Valley.
Leslie John McLeod (No. 1077), 9th Light Horse died from Spinal meningitis aboard HMAT Kyarra 29.8.1915 and buried at Freemantle.
Does anyone know of these boys? The people at the church know nothing of the story behind the windows and I would be interested in contacting any relatives and then getting back to the church to fill them in.
