AN&MEF plus AIF soldier
"Ned" Dwyer joined the AN&MEF because he was too short for the initial AIF intakes. He served in PNG for 12 months, took his discharge, joined the AIF initially as part of 3rd Reinforcements 47th Bn, later 41st Bn and then long term with 42nd Bn.
His family kept about 90 postcards that he sent home between 1914 and 1919. They provide an interesting look back into history that is a little different from some other "diaries".
As his writing space was restricted to postcard backs and because the censors were active there is not a lot of 'blood and gore" history but it does show how 1 Digger got through the war.
His story is at Dwyer of the 42nd
