Is there a list of Soldiers who went to Gallipoli

I'm researching my Grandfathers who served in the 19th during WW1.

Both joined within a day of each other and they would have known each other as one of them was a bugler. Noisy little guy kept waking everyone up!

I know the non-bugler was repatriated from Gallipoli but I can't find any information that puts the bugler there.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Thanks for any help.

Do you have a copy of their Service Records? If not they may already be available on-line at the National Archives website - and if they're not - you can request that they be digitized (free of charge).
Your grandfather's records will tell you whether he was at Gallipoli or not.
If you list their names here - you could probably receive a lot more help.
Cheers, Frev

My Paternal (bugler) Grandfather was Leslie Blanchard Garnett #231 of 19th Battalion.

My Maternal grandfather was Joseph Florentine #223 of the 19th.

Interestingly I found a photograph of a band at www.diggerhistory.info/pages-equip/musical.htm that lists the names of the musicians. It also states it is understood they were all ANZAC survivors.

I have a copy of the digitised pages from the naa Site but I need to wait for their full records.

I was hoping there was a short cut to a list somewhere.

Generally the digitised pages from the NAA website are the full service record, so you may not get any more than this. Graeme

Hi ya,

Just had a quick look at the Service Records for your paternal grandfather (bugler) - LB Garnett 231:
His Casualty Form states that he proceeded (from Egypt) to join the MEF Gallipoli 16/8/1915. He was admitted to hospital Gallipoli 16/10/15 with Diarrhoea - transferred to a Malta hospital per HS "Soudan" 24/10/15 (Dysentary) & eventually discharged to the ship "Bohemia" 14/3/16 for the trip back to Egypt.

Sometimes you have to read some of these forms 'upside down' to glean all the info scrawled on them!

Interesting to see he married your grandmother in London - hope you don't mind me noting this down - I like to keep a record of these sort of details.

Good luck with your research.
Cheers, Frev.
