Re: Terry, Smedley Joseph John (Smedley Terry) of 4th Light Horse
Found a photograph in the Australian War Memorial Website.
Description of the gravestone states:
The original joint grave of men of the 4th Australian Light Horse Regiment, who were all killed in action on the Gallipoli Peninsula on 6 August 1915. Identified on the tombstone: 549 Lance Corporal Humphry Osborne Moule, native of Brighton, Vic, died aged 22 years; 73 Tooper (Tpr) Frederick Charles Lionel Bridgeland (formerly served in the Boer War in the 5th Mounted Rifles Contingent), died aged 34 years; 191 Driver Smedley Joseph John Terry (Smedley Terry), native of Flaggy Creek, Vic, died aged 19 years; 192 Tpr Miles Nuel Turner, native of Colac, Vic, died aged 24 years. Tpr Turner's cousin, 7338 Private James Butler White, 23rd Battalion, was killed in action in Belgium on 5 October 1917, aged 19 years.

Re: Terry, Smedley Joseph John (Smedley Terry) of 4th Light Horse
Hi
You've probably already noted that your grandfather's Service Record can be purchased from the National Archives (which will probably take 4-6 weeks) - or you could wait until it is put on-line - this will supposedly happen anytime within the next 6 months.
Meanwhile, Smedley TERRY embarked at Melbourne 19/10/1914 on the A25 HMAT 'Anglo Egyptian' with A Squadron of the 4th LH.
A Squad landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula 22/5/1915.
Smedley was killed along with 4 other 4th lighthorsemen (including the other 3 in the grave photo) after 4.30pm on the 6th, during a counter attack by the Turks on Leane's Trench.
One place you may find copies of letters would be the local paper of the time, which in this case would probably be Drouin.
Good luck in your search,
Cheers, Frev

Re: Terry, Smedley Joseph John (Smedley Terry) of 4th Light Horse
Hi again Pyro80
Part of the info from my previous post came from the embarkation rolls, which can be found on the AWM website.
The rest came from 'Men of Beersheba' - the unit history of the 4th LH.
Cheers, Frev
