19 : Download UNDERDOGS by Manic Street Preachers for free from http://www.manics.co.uk - In the words of Nicky Wire, Underdogs is "All out punk metal - Alice Cooper - Stooges guitar outro. Could have been on Generation Terrorist. A celebration of the unique, a post 'Everything Must Go' address to the fans 10 years after the first time we did it. In a Britain dominated by generic, one diametrical multi branding, let us embrace the difference - the downtrodden - the losers and the opposition. Let us fall in love with individuality again".

The amount of bands of all ages on Planet Water that reference Manic Street Preachers in their influences is proof that inviduality is ready to be fallen in love with right now.

23 : Transvestite Pride day (in 1702 to mark the coronation of Queen Anne, the New York assembly is opened by Lord Corpery, Governor General of america on the queen's behalf. He appears at the ceremony dressed up as her). Courtesy of the Calendar Riots Diary.

24 : Burberry Workers Concert - Goldie Lookin Chain, The Automatic, Gruff Rhys, The Alarm, special guests.
organized by The Pop Factory to protest against Burberry’s planned closure of the Treorchy Factory which will result in the loss of some 300 jobs to the Far East. Burberry workers have mounted a fierce worldwide campaign to save their factory and received many high profile supporters from the world of entertainment for their cause including Tom Jones, Rhys Ifans, Ioan Gruffudd and Emma Thompson... Tickets are on sale from Friday 2 March priced at £12.50 from http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk, 029 2023 0130, Pontypridd Muni Arts Centre (01443 485934), Treorchy Parc and Dare Theatre (01443 757888) and Aberdare Colliseum (01685 881188).

The classiest images of Burberry are the photographs taken up Nicky Wire's skirt one Reading Festival. The worst image is of a heartless corporate winning this battle. This is a year of people power, long may we reign! Music Tourist Board has a soft spot for The Land Of Song, seeing as that's where the seeds formed, at the Millenium Stadium on Millenium Eve...

Rhys Ifans was a resident of Rocklands and had some fine things to say about New Cross when I met him on another planet, in a space suit, with Danny from Supergrass one time. The Beta Band had beamed a gig from The Ocean to another world for a few hours. Rhys Ifans is the perfect mix of Hollywood and Hollywouldn't

25 : An evening in support of lobbying organisation Anti Slavery International has been announced for the end of this month. The Voice Of Slavery will feature performances from the likes of Supergrass, Ed Harcourt, Finley Quaye and Emmanuel Jal, with more guests yet to be confirmed. Hosted by Samantha Morton, Sadie Frost and Rhys Ifans, the event will take place at the Forum
in Kentish Town.
The date is significant because it marks the 200 year anniversary of the passing of the British parliamentary act to abolish the trans-Atlantic slave trade. It's hoped the event will raise awareness of slavery in the modern
world, ranging from the use of child workers in areas such as the Philippines and the trafficking of sex workers in Europe.

26 : South P.O.L.E. night @ New Cross Inn

Spoon of Music presents - Kalev, Blah Blah Blah & Bretton Weds 14 Mar

My dear little Muisc lovers!

The last Spoon of Muisc night was a roaring success with the wonderful Sam Huxley, Docksud, Chet & The Pistolas....

And i feel it in my bones that this one will be even better.....

Spoon Of Music Presents.....
 Wednesday 14th March 2007
8pm - 12pm
£3 Entry

The Windmill
22 Blenheim Gardens
Brixton, London
SW2 5BZ

MORE INFO:
http://www.myspace.com/spoonofmusic

Kalev

Pounding rhythms, visceral lyrical content and confrontational vocal delivery. The guitars scratch out driving and intertwining latin-edged riffs. Sampling is used, for narrative, and tone. These components, in tandem with battering white noise, make up dark, electronic-fused guitar music. With two acclaimed singles 'Undoing' & 'Cutting At nothing' under their belt, they are about to release a third in April.
http://www.myspace.com/kalevband

Blah Blah Blah

Everyones new favourite band these three nice young men, play winky-wonky wobbly guitar and bass. They deliver charmingly yet ramshackly and possitively wonderful songs. The hardest working band in the world, they play three million shows a year (approx) and are as much fun as you can possible have with your clothes on. FACT.
http://www.myspace.com/blahblahblahandfriends

Bretton

Big soundscapes. The power to soothe and the underlying possibility of the power to break. Bretton are a band of contrasts, the lush and the raucos packaged together in a neat little bundle. The band state that they themselves are the proud parents of lots of noise. They're coming at you from all angles with all bases covered. You may not have heard them yet but we have and we think you should too.
http://www.myspace.com/brettonmusic

I'll see you down the front!!!
