Stortford Music Festival, 2-3 May

Stortford Music Festival
Saturday 2nd May and Sunday 3rd May.
St Marys Grounds, Windhill, Bishops Stortford, CM23 2NQ.

SUB POP SUNDAY, MESSENGERS, OFFICER KICKS, THE PINS, CHARLI XCX, THE WORLDONFIRE, BUSTER SHUFFLE, MOZZY GREEN and more appear at this year's Stortford Music Festival - the biggest one yet! 60+ artists over a variety of stages, sessions, comedy, arts, chill out, installations and more.

This year's theme is creative revolution.

New for 2009 The Rock Stage

One of the biggest changes to the festival format this year will see the addition of an alternative & rock marquee, which is being co-run by Stortford promoters Club Blub and Rhodes Rocks. It will star a diverse array of the buzziest local and touring talent some already grabbing national media attention from NME, Xfm and, more importantly, the growing live music scene in this part of the UK. This is sussed and timely of this event, as Rock'n'Roll is the new rock'n'roll this year.

Advance Tickets (including booking fee) from http://www.stortfordmusicfestival.org.uk/
Adult (18+): £12.70 for one day or £17.80 for the weekend
11-17 years: £7.50p for one day or £12.70p for the weekend
Family (2 x Adult, 2 x 11-17 years) = £52 for the weekend

Re: Stortford Music Festival, 2-3 May

Music Tourist Board (1) promotes "Rocklands" (i..e. New Cross/Deptford and local radius) as the most creative community in London. Life imitates art through film, music, artists, photography, unity and imagination - largely via the annual Artful festival in October. Expo of underground entertainment and exhibition. The city's South East X has since featured on Xfm Radio, The ICA, National Film Theatre, Curzon Cinema Soho, thrown the legendary "concrete Glastonbury" that was Rocklands Party, UK national media/broadsheets etc, TV and short film, exhibition, international media/word of mouth (especially among L.A. bands) plus Italian Vogue, Thai Supersweet and last month the New York Times Travel Guide which proclaimed it the hip area of the future.

Rocklands, in turn has become increasingly connected with "East Spanglier" through too many talents to mention* (i.e. Herts, Essex, East Anglia) as the buzziest best band tour circuit in UK. Is life set to imitate art again? Unite? It all kicks off at the Creative Revolution edition of Stortford Festival on 3rd May. Also seeking artists with attitude for this year's Artful...

* but including My Passion, Rhodes Rocks, Messengers, Club Blub, Officer Kicks, Charlie XCX, Hitchin Club 85, R*E*P*E*A*T zine/label, Ten City Nation, Making Eyes @ Elvis, Rosalita, The Worldonfire, Dead Planet Records etc...

Rough clip of Officer Kicks headlining the Rock Stage on 3 May - not a bad following from first local gig to 30 people in August http://www.vimeo.com/4482055
