MUSIC TOURIST BOARD, a social enterprise from 01-Apr-008
From Mar 008 onwards, Music Tourist Board has had to start from scratch and needs to ask who would like to be part of it.
Playing Class Friends of Planet Water have no umbrella organisation to represent (or brand) them. Their individuality is retained, but their collective clout is unrecognised.
We currently do most of our business by co-promoting and exchange of services. Friendship as finance. It's worked.
In a galaxy far far away (London's lower east side), Music Tourist Board is already a proven reality. Multi-talent-tasking, DIY chic, skint and groovy anti-scene.
The project: Observe over populated locality, given relative peace by green spaces, birdsong, escapism and a sense of community. It works.
Bringing in-balance for the future. Posh homes for people that say they live in "Greenwich" and spend their money there, not mingling with the working/non-working locals. The fury of people hauled in for not being able to afford their council tax, at being charged the same amount as the rich.
The treasure of South East London is it's every day people.
Music Tourist Board, as a social enterprise. These have their income capped and profits are put back into the community. Sounds ideal.
Somebody has to listen. The old lady who said it is too dark to walk behind The Albany at night. Another street light is needed. Up to fifty people left out in all weather at the two bus stops at the top of Deptford High Street on New Cross Road, with no shelter. The fact that we watch the vehicle lights to cross four lanes of traffic on Deptford Broadway because there is nothign for people.
Deptford Broadway/New Cross Road is the first visual impression, by road from Europe, of an olympic city. Allegedly. First the sweeping vista of Blackheath (complete with it's iconic tea hut) then down the hill to the second world... Hooray for the alternative brightness around Deptford Town Hall I say...

A business plan.
Music Tourist Board
is . . .
A new business model, with a 360 degree twist and proven results.
A promotion of Britain & Ireland's alternative attractions / green and pleasant credentials / cultural heritage.
London, an entertainment capital and it's South East Bank (the planet's time zone) as a creative community and an affordable, alternative destination where the Olympic Spirit has created a potential cottage industry economy.
Talent networking and co-promotion, Marketing, Promotion, Event Management and Creative Artist Development Services.
Social Justice, Environment, Escapism for Well being, alternative history is more exciting/inspiring. Peace is cheaper.
An ideas factory.

Earlier - Draft No.1

Project No.1 - Earlier - On Line Show for Channnel6TV
Earlier Sketch 01 Apr 008
Description: Music Tourist Board Day 1 'Earlier' (c) MTB / Planet Water for Channnel6TV
Start with video clips from YouTube and links to websites. End with a TV show on the rising stars of the underground made at Planet Water Time Zone. No money, equipment etc but this is Music Tourist Board and that’s never stoped us yet. So, hey ho, let’s go! Day 1 - rough draft story board on line - don’t even have movies for the intro, oh well. EPISODE ONE
Earlier intro: Sketched with photography by Anne-Marie Mullarkey, McNaughty, Satoko Owada, Mackenzie Hodge of Sarah/Blue Light District, Whiskey Versus Faith, Blah Blah Blah, The Veez, Rowdy Superst*r, Paul St Paul & The Apostles, New Cross Inn. Music by Nicky Wire. Unable to upload the .mov file to Youtube. Approx 30 seconds
(1) ONCE UPON ANOTHER TIME (sci-fi serial) Set the scene. Story begins on a high street. The peace candle indicates where Equiano & Wilberforce, the Love Doves, live in Rocklands.
(2) Band profile : GST Cardinals get set for their 2008 UK touring schedule (Hull Vibe)
http://www.myspace.com/gstcardinals + http://www.youtube.com/hullvibe
(3) Short film : Cuthbet The Sad Little Bunny by Chris Getliffe who designed the Artful Festival poster. http://www.getliffe.com + Kitchen District Comics http://www.Kitchendistrict.com
(4) Music video : Pictures Of Me by Officer Kicks (Token Films - Stuart Lanceley works with “interesting bands” (so far also including The Zutons, The Coral, Hot Club de Paris and The Wombats).
http://www.myspace.com/officerkicks + http://www.myspace.com/tokenfilms
(5) Style : RAR! The 14+ event with stars on the stage and on the dance floor. No.1 (Jan 008) and No.2 (Mar 008) both sold out in advance. The next one is on Friday 18th April at The Albany Theatre in Rocklands http://www.myspace.com/nxpromotions by Ruben
(6) Leave the scene : A mere snippet of Blah Blah Blah live in Deptford Fun City. The punky pop trio have toured with Wombats, Holloways, Kate Nash, Lethal Bizzle and more. An alternative tip, their debut single ‘Death To The Indie Disco’ released 7th April on Kids Records http://www.myspace.com/blahblahblahandfriends Approx 9 minutes
(not added, Earlier outro/credits: ‘The Shutdown’ - to get permision for use). Approx 30 seconds
So if it had been done properly, it would be a ten minute show. The idea is for fifteen minute chapters so that they can be visuals at live music events (the usual band change over time at new music shows).
+ (to be filmed/profiled) :
Toy! Toy! (electro rock star band)
http://www.myspace.com/toytoyuk
Eugene Ankomah (artist)
http://www.myspace.com/eugeneankomah
Karen Toftera (photographer)
http://www.shotonstage.co.uk
The Birds Nest (music, art, accomodation, alternative tourism)
Check out: The Coolness, The Pepys, The Run-Ups, The IRS, Glamour For Better and You Love Her Cos She's Dead.
If the basic idea is cool then
(1) Invite the interested to please check out, photograph, write about, film etc the above in April.
(2) Seek new subjects/recommendations in May, courtesy of MTB allies.
(3) Create Earlier, Episode 1 - approx 15 mins for on-line and DVD, with additional material/videos compiled by The Blue Light District for use as visuals.
(4) Exchange ideas with the interested
(5) On line partner still on board?
(6) Make No.2 in June/July at the outdoor events of the Time Zone ready for September (3 x festivals) and October (Artful). Earlier No.3 to made between October 1st and Halloween as part of the Costa del Thames holiday brochure package.
Tweak above to suit. As. And when.
End of April, take results to on line supporter.

Re: MUSIC TOURIST BOARD, a social enterprise from 01-Apr-008
Calendar / Brochure.
Photographers capture characters against the sci-fi, magic, pirate, green etc spaces of Rocklands and Docklands for the Costa del Thames holiday brochure. So far Boxbots approached. Put it together during Artful. Thanks to Gravity Guide for the publishing advice. Wanted words, comedy etc.
Night Mayor of London
North London has Westminster, Harrods and City Hall.
South London has The Ministry of Sounds, Rubbish & Nasty and Deptford Town Hall. Which have more empathy with every day people? Where is the attitude, the rebellion, the revolution? Meanwhile, BNP fave, Boorish Johnson, looks the likely candidate on Planet Earth. Get up stand up for your rights? Or watch Big Brother? etc
