(2) NEW MUSIC TOURIST BOARD

We already have loads of lovely contacts. . . Links to Playing Class friends http://www.runboard.com/bartful.f17.t8636 . . . But have to now ask everybody from scratch if they would like to become a more entwined part of what we are trying to do next.

This first week has been highly encouraging. Fuller information to follow, plus their latest news in these mail outs, but for now, can anybody at Music Tourist Board's planet water alliance - http://www.runboard.com/bartful.f17.t8642 - be of service to you? Also, if you have any feedback that we can use to promote them, please ping it to nxpromotions[at]gmail[dot]com subj: MTB feedback

(3) EARWAX RADIO

http://www.wax-music.com - The newer wave broadcasts go from strength to strength courtesy of the bi-weekly sessions, interviews and early plays for underground faves which are increasingly being picked up by the national new music shows later. Hats off to all stations concerned. While the Olympic flame was making a "torch-erous"(!) journey to North Greenwich in Rocklands yesterday, a mile or two away, the live session recorded was a classic. Hats off to Abi Makes Music, Superman Revenge Squad (featured on the hugely successful God Is In The TV singles club http://www.godisinthetvzine.co.uk this month), The Moon (intergalactic musicians) and a frankly stunning performance from Nebraska to round off the occasion in style.
As Earwax Say: “A big thanks to everyone who came down to the sunday session. Once again it proved a top afternoon. Thanks to all the bands, New Cross Inn, Ben & Marian for knob twiddling/sound duties, JJ and the crew for video/photo duties and Dexy for his skills on the wheels of steel.”
Sessions should hopefully be online soon, until then you can find previous sessions at http://www.wax-music.com/Sessions.htm

(4) INVOLVEMENT WANTED : (a) PARTICIPANTS

Although born and based in London, MTB is an international venture, a DIY expo of alternative positivity and a stable of high quality with the right attitude and a growing reputation/client list. MTB has a reputable scouting record, plus a wealth of events, media and ideas. Marketing consultancy with a 360 degree twist. Social justice and inclusion are at it’s heart - a high percentage of the inspiration is the ****ensian lifestyles of struggling musicians, artists, students, high rise dwellers etc and how they self market/develop into the calibre of great, against the odds and reach the level where MTB feels their potential is ripe for sponsorship. Support, advice, funding, mutual co-promotion etc are as welcome as sponsorship for the groups and individuals to fulfil that potential. therocklands[at]yahoo[dot]com / 079 8320 6218 http://www.myspace.com/artfulmtb

(4) INVOLVEMENT WANTED : (b) PHOTOGRAPHERS / WRITERS WANTED BY ON LINE PUBLICATION

Keep eyes peeled for news of No.3 (30 May) as there are only 600 tickets available and at a fiver for the show that you get in this amazing space, get snapped up quickly. Creative talents encouraged to get involved, check out the next DJ, promoter, photography, writer, film maker stars... http://www.myspace.com/nxpromotions

(6) CHANNNEL 6 TV PROJECT

MTB Project : Channnel6 TV show EARLIER, in draft form (9 minutes, into and outro are 30 minutes each but uploaded) - currently no links at http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=8F7D4D116B9DC47D

Film/video creation/editing/directing talent sought. Also have hot as lava mentors in place seeking the new stars.

(7) LONDON - A MAYOR OR A NIGHTMARE ON 1ST MAY? YOU DECIDE

Imagine the torch carrying event causing protest in 2012? Alarming 21st century increases environmental disaster, violence, rich-poor divide and the dangers of division.
“Pull the plug on fascist thugs”; Unite Against Fascism will organise protests against the BNP’s party political broadcasts. BNP’s No.2 choice, the happily offensive Boris Johnson, has a very good chance of being the next London Mayor due to public apathy. More fool us. Make a difference at http://www.uaf.org.uk/
The London Love Music Hate Racism Carnival takes place on 27 April. Music Tourist Board suggests a Night Mayor for London, as a lot of good hearted things can happen after dark. Massive thanks to our candidates so far.

Bands, what's YOUR news?

- - - -
In response to Mail-Out No.1 last week, MTB has a growing family of allies. At the end of the month, we'll ping round a calendar of their recommended May highlights as well as their contacts, hopefully you will consider them for your quality, creative services / entertainer needs.

Also much thanks for the response to the London mayoral statement quotes. Tomorrow is the deadline, already have a good selection of well-known names come on board. See week 1 mail out at the MTB News Apr-008 at the http://www.myspace.com/artfulmtb blog, for more info.

Planet Water: In the same way that the dove of peace refused to fly when it set the Olympic Torch on it's way, and the computers of Terminal Five rebelled, supernature has proven itself. A feature of the highly over populated South East London is the relative peace caused by sufficient greenery for birdsong. What's on the news Tuesday 8th April? The fact that the news reports thousands of people tuning into a digital radio station to hear birdsong. Yeah man...

peace, out

(4) Rocklands Club No.4 was a fabulous riot where GST CARDINALS, MESSENGERS, DEATHLINE and then OBVIOUS BOOKS adorned the stage with top notch cool sets. Friends and fans were made, hearts swooned, balls bounced around the stage and NATHAN DOOM / JANE HEARTBREAKER did the honours on the decks. GST Cardinals had driven all the way from Hull and ended up taking an involuntary guided tour of London, luckily arriving just in time to down pints, perk up and rock out. After their Saturday night out they slept in the tour van that they more or less live in. And hats off to MESSENGERS - that has got to be a debut gig that will certainly be remembered. Hi-NRG electrical pop storm : http://www.myspace.com/messengersofficial
Rocklands @ New Cross Inn returns on 17 May with The Pity Party (voted best LA band ...by LA!), Bretton, Brenda and the amazing Raven Beats Crow and DJ Chris Mugan / MTB allies...

Being based on Planet Water, there is, of course, quite a bit of Sci-Fi involved in Music Tourist Board's very existence. So this communiction from MTB allies, The Blue Light District (they are definitely out of this world!) is well worth taking note of.

"Hello people! We made a movie for the sci-fi channel. Look at it and then you will have seen it.... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XJKVFe15rog Bretton will be doing visuals at the next Rocklands NXI event in May, this has already been requested

Music Tourist Board - Mon 28 Apr

Within a month (May Day, May Day) we are a creative industry. Massive thanks to our presentation creator, and to the documentary photography and filming already set up. The plan is simple, an EXPO of DIY with our Octoberfest, Artful, already in place. Get on board.

Lovely day out for the Love Music Hate Racism carnival, bumping into loads of other lovely friends, old and new, that love music and hate racism every day, too. It was great when everybody cheered at the sun - we knew MTB could work with real people still very much in force.

What a night out at BASH last Thursday. Brill dancing club with bonkersness that rocks, as the entertainment, ****ing Vegas, Toy! Toy! and Black Peter Group. Keep an eye on http://www.myspace.com/newcrossinn for the next gay/straight/alien aural orgy...

Hats off to MTB allies, THE VEEZ, who triumped at their recent Miami festival show with The Bravery. Undaunted by the main stage, they earned these words from the Miami Times "The London-reared she-rocking quartet has no fancy gimmicks or novelties, just solid tunes. If the Spice Girls had talent, they still wouldn’t be The Veez ladies, who are truly more camera-ready than those old drag queens.". Look out for them at this year's Glastonbury Festival.
http://www.myspace.com/theveez

And to The IRS, stars of the Rocklands Stage at last year's People's Day Festival and now winners of the Best Urban Act at this year's Indy Awards
http://www.myspace.com/theirsonline

If you are in Cambridge tomorrow come and say hi

This event is open to EVERYONE (including boys) aged 15+
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=11846476697

Love that venue, great chips and it always reminds me of the fab R*E*P*E*A*T posse.

MTB/NXP HQ, next month, keep an eye on Art Rock Central as New Cross Inn launches a shop with a stage...

Anyway, being the last mail out of the month, here is some May 008 action.
