YEAR 008 : MUSIC TOURIST BOARD

Year 008

New Year's Day - five years of what is only hinted at, above. What to do with it all? It’s been a proven success without capital, so what now?

16 Jan : A very modern messiah, Paul The Pirate of Deptford Town Hall Pirates, leaves Planet Water, for another Heaven. He loved the story of the Love Doves, Equiano and Wilberforce, that live above St Paul’s Church and bring a note to musicians in dreams, so already has a church named in his honour - complete with a totally appropriate Peace Candle.

18 Jan : RAR! club launches in conjunction with The Albany Theatre and The Young Mayor of Lewisham. Sells out in advance. 14+ audience includes new talent, MTB style (photographers, film makers etc - one has since become highly in demand to make band videos!).

Also, monthly Saturday Music Tourist Board gatherings - Rocklands - begin at New Cross Inn. Newer Wave is the sound of Planet Water’s Alternative Idols.

Mar 008 :

St David's Day 008

Gotta believe in Chaos Magic, Situationism, Kismet and Karma and trust in the power of Nature.

Head For Business course at The Albany Theatre. Change of direction from a not-for-profit disorganisation. MTB is to become a social enterprise.

13 Mar : Have to begin all over again. 13 is a lucky number on Planet Water.

Meet inspiring artist, Eugene Ankomah, on the wavelength. We sat next together on the Head For Business Course. .

Mar 13
13 is lucky on Planet Water. Went away and wrote a new kind of business model to work from.

Mar 14 - The second RAR! Club also sells out in advance.

15-Mar-008 : The Rank Deluxe rocked their single launch night at New Cross Inn with Docksud and The Gin Riots.

22-Mar-008 : Red Stripe Awards show at New Cross Inn.

27 Mar 008 : Art Opening by Eugene Ankomah in Willesden, http://www.myspace.com/eugeneankomah got a little lost on the way. Very kindly http://www.britishblackmusic.com offered a cup of water and a viewing of their brilliant exhibition. Inspired to set up Musical Heritage as part of Music Tourist Board.

Then

Head down to Blow Up Metro on Oxford Street and LOVE Pop Levi's Break Machine, duelling laptop DJ set preview of the new album. Pop Levi spends the weekend in Rocklands. Music Tourist Board has a good reputation around the world (Japan, Australian, Europe, friends in New York and LA). Also, friends coming over from Canada.

31 Mar 008 : “Either Music Tourist Board will work as a business, from tomorrow, or fall flat on it's face. So glad to be TRYING to do something completely different, at least.”

We need help to help our community with positivity.

Thank you

To The Talent and the friendly local community of South EAst London.

To the Entertainers, Exhibitors, Audience, Venues and the interested since conception and the first meeting with Alex Proud of Proud Galleries on the ART of being a Music Tourist Board.

Also for the promo CDs to play (Hall Or Nothing, Courtyard, Parlophone) and media that have given the madness some column inches/air time.

Sponsors / Supporters so far also include

13 Artists
City Showcase
Creative Lewisham Agency
Fusion / NDC
In The City
Jennifer Taylor of Deptford Town Centre Management
NDC/Fusion
Peoples Day Festival of Lewisham
Red Stripe
RSVP.co.uk Docklands

All the above, has, additionally, a wodge of press kit on the locality, the artists, the venues, clubs, etc, and there is actually too much going on. Once Music Tourist Board is taken as seriously as an Expo of how important, on a world stage, the art and music of BritainIreland is. Then the ideas we have used on a small stage for South East London have the potential to have no bounds to how far the ripples can spread from the small pond that is the Planet Time Zone.

While we await that belief, we just get on with what we do, and as part of that, I continue my career as a Love Pirate living in an old Sailor’s Town.

All Fools Month 008

01-Apr : From scratch, find allies, sponsors and create business opportunities for the invisible (r)evolution already happening.

Wage Peace, Arts, Music by any fun and lovely means necessary. Practise Random Kindness and Senseless Acts of Beauty. Share The Joy... continue with this, as from day one. Friendship is a valid and ancient finance.

An umbrella organisation with no umbrella brand, Music Tourist Board is the off-line social network. Call in at HQ or live music events as these involve various MTB allies.

Weekly news mail out. Join list at http://www.myspace.com/artfulmtb

Network at Facebook via the group : PLAYING CLASS FRIENDS

So far (at time of 22nd April), will have involvement in this year’s Made In Deptford Festival (5 and 6 July), City Showcase (10 May), Kate&Tristan shop (from mid May), a summer of RAR! events (next one 30 May) and bands involved with Music Tourist Board are at this year’s festivals, award nominations, on the radio, in the press. A calendar for 2009, a guide for alternative tourism, an on line TV show are also in production. Supporters and sponsors, researchers and compilers, exhibition and entertainment assistance - all being sought. In response, street level otherworldly marketing ideas are part of the exchange of ideas in return. MTB seek to get mutually involved in as many organisations that we can find on the Planet Water wavelength.

Thank you for your time.

share the joy

Re: YEAR 008 : MUSIC TOURIST BOARD

April, loads happened/began!
May, step things up a bit. Collate some links/info and upload them to the web page.

1 May : A month old, MTB is at 100 Club with Officer Kicks who have allied with MTB via management, Blue Light District services (CDs/badges for first two singles). They pick up PR, independent label (and a room full of new admirers).

2 May : Volcanoless In Canada arrive in UK for a month. MTB services include accomodation in Costa del Thames (Deptford Birds Nest), travel to The Great Escape Festival (Totally Tidy Tours) and a show at New Cross Inn on 12 May.

2 May : South London Press runs the main Pulse pull out article on five years of MTB activity - "New Cross Is Still No.1". See that Phil Phamous on the cover? Contact him, via the Inn, and get on the Tuesday evening open stage jams (back line provided) for a gig at the arty venue.

3 May : Am at Banksy's Tunnel under Waterloo Bridge. Street Art Battle featuring loads of amazing articles. London's South East X ROCKS

May The Fourth Be With You : It's the second day of Foxfest people rock and booze for a whole day in great company to great sounds from two stages courtesy of probably London's best independent promotions team; Two Bob. http://www.myspace.com/twobobmusic

5 May : The dashing lead singer of Seeing Scarlet graces the nation's TV screens in Midsomer Murders... "A Tale of Two Hamlets - series six - Film star and ladies' man Larry Smith (Charlie Beall) pays tribute to Upper Warden’s famous author, Ellis Bell, at the opening of a "Satanic Experience" in his honour, but he is blown up in an unexplained explosion as he retraces the mystery writer’s steps." (ITV.com). Luckily Charlie comes back to life just in time for the return of the edgy pop outfit's return to live shows - tunes and dates at http://www.myspace.com/seeingscarlet

10 May : MTB represented at the Ladyfest panel : Ladies In the Music Industry then in the evening, it's a PARTY at New Cross Inn for the City Showcase auditions.

12 May : Fantastic night out again at the same venue where Heath, God Love You For A Liar, Volcanoless In Canada and Dexy live it up on stage. Aargh, too much to drink.

13 May : Paul and Nancy Maps kick off the Bands For Burma events
