KOROVA
KOROVA don't really exist: they are merely the illusionary personification of everything you know you want and need in a band. Dark, edgy, angular, speed soaked, adrenaline fuelled, 10,000 miles per hour pop. "Welcome loyal supporters of the Korova State... We are your problem."
"Spiky and jagged like a heart monitor recording a cardiac arrest, their live set is taut and charged, fiercely technicolour and unexpectedly open - Korova's sound is the kind which surrounds you in widescreen and sweeps you along." (Drowned In Sound)
With their star in the ascendancy as people start to take note, Edinburgh's Korova's release their debut single JUST LIKE PETER COOK / MICROWAVE ROMANCE in July. The double A-side 7", is limited to 500 copies featuring specially commissioned artwork by Lucy May. Each record will be accompanied by a download code which will allow access to MP3s versions of the single which is availableat http://www.toughloverecords.com and from sussed outlets.
KiKiKorova - Vocals, Guitar FiFiKorova - Vocals, Bass GiGiKorova - Vocals, Drums KiTiKorova - Vocals, Violin. Korova already have a fine name on the (T)art Rock underground - dark articulate rock of the alternative kind and chaotic adrenaline rushes on stage.
Their first show south of the border in March 005 caused a riot of a mosh in Ipswich.
This up and coming art-punk quartet also played In The City 005 (John Kennedy of Xfm not only caught their set and was impressed, and has played them on his show).
The 21st century classic, 'Just Like Peter Cook' went on to win 98% in a Radio 1 Evening Session Scotland poll. Korova played The Artful Broadcast by Earwax Radio, the song went on to be hailed the best-new-bands station's song of 005! Korova are an essential cog of the co-promoting DIY Network and were made the shortlist, from thousands of bands, for this year's T-In-the Park Festival, if not the event this time round. Steve Lamacq recently picked up on their single too.
Grab one...
"...Brilliantly trashy guitars allied to a throbbing bass and a brilliant melancholic sense of vitriol."
