The Love Doves of Rocklands
This album is part of the soundtrack of The Love Doves that came to Rocklands and brought with them, magic.
Once Upon Another Time in the Shires of Elswhere, two Love Doves, Equiano & Wilberforce lived , above St.Paul's Church, not far from Vega Fair, Rocklands. The only hint it was their home was the Peace Candle on Deptford High Street. They came for Father Diamond. And stayed

It's not just magic folk that are part of this tale. Also attracted to Planet Water's Time Zone are the rock'n'roll loving Moon Fairies

Hattie Chewed and Smoocher Velvet moved into Mabel Lucie Attwell House, next to Amersham Arms on New Cross Road at the start of year 006.
They'd been regular visits to Rocklands for a few years now, sendiing back broadcasts of Lunar Tunes, their culture and music show. They weren't the only space travellers in the area, as any visit to Vega Fair, space port and magic market on Douglas Way (SE8) any Saturday morning, or checking out Vulcan Road (SE4) near the beaming down zone, proves...

the effect of the love doves...
Oloudah Equiano and William Wilberforce are part of the story of slavery's abolition. Rocklands plays a big part in the history of both slavery and abolition. 2007 is the two hundred years of abolition celebration...
The cult of positivity...
Corporation:Blend ...from school in Bournemouth to London, early interview 2001 http://home.clara.net/lovepeacemusic/corpblnd.htm - From The Shutdown, Jailbait etc (Rob Owen - vocals/guitar, Andy Harrison - keyboards, Charlie Layton - drums, Dexy - bass/backing vocals) to flavouring the first decade of the 21st century's British anti scene via line up changes and evolution. One of their earliest London gigs is in New Cross at Amersham Arms. Andy was also a student at Goldsmiths and band members lived on New Cross Road. April 2003, the rock n roll republic, Rocklands is born. Across the river from Docklands.
Later that month c:b and friends start a club, Pop Of The Tops, at The Paradise Bar in New Cross. Friends from Bournemouth come and play with their bands (Art Brut, Games For May, Bloc Party - drummer Matt Tong played on a c:b demo). During it's second week, The Cling come to play. Their manager is Simon White (ex Menswear). They change line up and become Transparent Things, Simon becomes Bloc Party's manager.
With so many creative people, DIY DJs and media, fairies, pirates and friendly nutters hanging out together on a weekly basis, Music Tourist Board appears from thin air in October 003.
So much independent, DIY industry thrives in New Cross that NME call Paradise Bar "The CBGBs of SE14". New Cross becomes a scene for a while with the release of the Angular Records album, The New Cross. Being an anti-scene, Rocklands is still thriving.
Transparent Things play the club in 2004 with drummer, Charlie Layton, then armed with big tunes, become Seeing Scarlet.
Paradise Bar closes in Summer 2004. Anti spreads around the world. Having made Rocklands a reality (thanks to film makers, Digital Sneakers - http://www.digitalsneakers.co.uk ), c:b go on the road with Nebraska in October 004 (Rocklands Rounded Tour). The last Pop Of The Tops is in December 004 - killed off so that it could stay beautiful.
C:B record their masterpiece (Chapter Of Accidents EP released on Angry Liberal Records) at the start of 2005. Paul Draper of Mansun catches them live a couple of times. They get acquainted.
October 1st-31st 2005 the first Artful Festival celebrates the 21st century punk attitude's newer wave of talent. On October 1st, Corporation:Blend storm a packed In The City show, then self destruct and get on with establishing Artful. Dexy gets on stage (with Michael Nebraska) to sing at a Pop Of The Tops special. Seeing Scarlet play The Amersham Arms ( recorded for posterity by Earwax Radio, available as The Artful Broadcast on http://www.wax-music.com )
In 2006 Rob & Andy have created Sharing Sheaths, an audiovisual experimentation in electro entertainment ready to leash on next year. Dexy has become a solo artist in his own right, played on the same bills as Bob Dylan and The Spinto Band, and joined Nebraska as guitarist, as well as playing bass with Paul Draper as he demos his new material. Seeing Scarlet have recorded their debut album by Autumn then played the warm up show for Artful 2006 with Pop Levi. Nebraska launched their debut album, The Path To The Silent Country to a packed out Water Rats in October. Seeing Scarlet launched Mental Notes to a packed out Colours Bar in December (Dexy supported, it was his birthday).
C:B Story http://www.lovepeacemusic.clara.net/cb00406.htmland feedback http://www.lovepeacemusic.clara.net/rtbcbfeedback.html
Seeing Scarlet, Dexy and Nebraska appear on the compilation, Once Upon Another Time. The above is just one of the otherworldly stories that weave all the artists involved into this surreal but true tale.

Re: The Love Doves of Rocklands
Jan-007
the pursuit of happiness... and employments
the rock'n'roll isles are home to many great familes (the royle family, the kumars, the gallaghers, the gallaghers, the archers, the mitchells, the beckhams, the windsors etc), millions of 'em with the heartbeat of the urban beat moving the dancing feet of a nation. jedi knights, witches, wizards, fairies, rappers, rockers, lovers and gigglers.
stunning natural green beauty blessed by the tears of precious water regularly and visited by the winds of the worlds, the rock n roll isles of lalaland were largely populated by the playing class so there was much music, arts, sporting sport, charity, conscience, courtesy and lifelong childhood.
and therefore more peace. round our way its still largely ungentrified, so no longer cheap since the turn of the century, if the local wealth of creativity could self sustain could at least by afforded by the local population.
march = freedom to rock. a rock n roll isles guide. recycled newspaper guide like the one that raw-nerve did for artful, but a web links listing on the outside and local map on the inside with a map reference that refers to any local links
available at music tourist board events in march. next one after that for artful to be ready by august. foldable to easily portable.
how can we pay all the bands, djs, photographers etc. where is cheap recyclable postcard printing. music tourist board stall to sell their wares, badges etc as swag. clear pockets for discount flyers. cuppa and booze promotions in the albany and whatever is on the screens then.
march starts artful.
Boggy McFrump took a weekend off to collect wits withered by debt stress (and tidy her room at the same time as her mind). The phone didn't ring, she went for a walk, drank water and at least a corner of her room was tidy now. She relaxed and watched The Shipping News.
The Secretary had come back from Vega Fair recently, things weren't looking so good for the traders. Less business. They usually brought a shop's worth of shopping on Saturdays from there in the past, but now didn't buy much so that power supplies wouldn't get cut off from their treehouse.
Planet Earth wasn't all as dramatic as on the news, but it could bring you down in all sorts of ways. Nature's way is balance, and that's where Planet Water came in. An Age Of Aquarius where ancient instincts of civilisation are strong in the living planet's guardian offspring. Arts not arms. The Planet Priority age needs unity and equality rapidly. The seed has taken root though.
Planet Water force, money put to good while banking is still the new theft. Do it with headed paper and charge them to call and complain. Luckily there are still some human souls among the computer generated humanity to have a conversation with and some understanding from. Sometimes.
For balance there's fun, and most importantly lovely people to generate it. Friendly, creative, exciting folks with their hearts in the right place. Planet earth, where they need a box to think outside of, if they're paid well enough, is the other dimension.
Boggy and The Secretary lived in both worlds simultaneously. They were living up the road from a gathering in March on Planet Water - in Vega Fair itself. http://com2.runboard.com/bartful.f1.t8310
There was lot to be done, people to get on board and arrangements to be made. Boggy's was a Typist and The Secretary helped run a hotel. Their friend the calm lady was an artist with pleasures for the eye and The Secretary's husband, Mr Fixit was a sports commentator. They all kept themselves busy, but that was one Saturday night when they could let their hair down.

Re: The Love Doves of Rocklands
Feb 007
Rocklands - Share The Joy
It's as if The Aqe of Aquarius is taking effect, the playing class of planet water - every day people - are making future, instead of just history.
The news is actually new for a change. welcome to planet water. what a week that was after some of the space travellers forgot the human form thing. they’d come for the usual holiday in the oceans, but ventured on land and were seen on the district line tube.
this is the decade that shapes the new millenium. i wish that everybody on the planet, capable of making the choice, from toddlers upwards (after all this world is their inheritance) should be able to vote what we do next. Global Ceasefire or Carry On Argmageddon.
Special times. People and Music have given us hope. Live 8 meant more than G8. Instinct for survival guides us to seek peace so that in unity we can use the knowledge we’ve gained to try and heal the world.
This week’s news has been good news week. Some balance amongst the usual horror and celebrity. People power, no to bombs, guns and the corporate crime spree that is banking. all ahead of the abolition of slavery celebration that is st david’s day this year. freedom and the simple life are the cheapest of all, yet debt is a new slavery where things cost more if you’re poor. the lunatics have taken over the asylum. the empire has struck. but there’s still hope in music. arts not arms and sporting sport.
The Jedi have returned. right in the middle of chapter two of once upon another time. the love doves, eqiano and wilberforce, have been singing more than usual over the last few years. Their good karma has spread in waves around their locality, a settlement on Bling Blighty’s longest river.
so march then is when a naff and daft idea has to get going so here it is. maybe the world needs more romantic ideals. when they spark together they make a vibe. personally speaking, as a descendent of slavery living in a slavery and abolition historied location, it is heartening that people can break on through to the other dimension without ever leaving planet earth.
On Tuesdsay there was a crush of friendship at New Cross Inn as people got together for free pancakes, good music and great company. The venue also booked shows by over 20 of the underground's network of DIY promoters up to June.
South East London now has so many bands, music bars, artists, galleries, events, festivals, collaborations and launches on it's calendar (which starts in March with Telegraph Hill Arts Festival), that it is a genuine destination for visitors to Alternative London on a budget. In fact Time Out, the weekly whats on bible described it recently as The Capital's New Capital of Underground Culture...
Last Saturday Night it was Pop Levi and White Man Kamikaze, this Saturday Night it was The Rank Deluxe, Blah Blah Blah, Plastic Passion, Fatels and The High Times rocking the packed out New Cross Inn.
With so many music cottage industry friends in and out of the place, it's become a hang out since the X-Party weekend in November when it relaunched as an art installation music bar venue in ROCKLANDS.
In true situationist punk style, the story has come to life.

Once Upon Another Time
Chapter 01 : Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec 006
Chapter 02 : Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr 007
We are in Month 3 of Chapter 02, nearly half way through the story of the first compilation, and time to start on the second.
Last week hundres of artists and their friends turned up at the old Greenwich Market to celebrate the launch of the beautiful work of art that is 13:53 Magazine
http://www.1353mag.com
Along the road, Deptford Gallery, Bearspace, launched a Greenwich branch...
A short hop bus ride away it was punk with a dandy twist at New Cross Inn where you always bump into friends or friendly faces all soundtracked by whoever is on the stage or dj decks.
Rocklands is the 'eART of London
