Sometimes a self-portrait, sometimes a reaction to an art-world fad or institution, sometimes an observation
With work that continuously pushes and pulls between a tongue-in-cheek humour and a direct and open honesty, Tinsel gives us her angle on what it is to be an artist in the Noughties
THIS.IS.MODERN.ART will include very recent work alongside a selection of pieces created over the past three years, to create a retrospective style show.
PLUS - DJ Rich Pack spinning the toooooons!

Fuller information
Tinsel's work explores her own relationship with the artworld and the art-making process. Her figurative canvases and line drawings tell stories with an illustrative and personal style of mark-making.
Similarly the grungey photographs, bold text statements and sculptures create a humorous personal narrative or commentary. Sometimes a self-portrait, sometimes a reaction to an art-world fad or institution, sometimes an observation. With work that continuously pushes and pulls between a tongue-in-cheek humour and a direct and open honesty, Tinsel gives us her angle on what it is to be an artist in the Noughties.
THIS.IS.MODERN.ART will include very recent work alongside a selection of pieces created over the past three years, to create a retrospective style show. Thirty paintings in thirty days is a selection of thirty acrylic paintings on panel, created in the month leading up to the exhibition. The painterly interpretations of imaginary covers of Modern Painters fabricate the close of the magazine. These are displayed amongst **** IT mini canvases, found paintings appropriated with text, and even a sculpture of the actual contents of Tinsel's studio. The Shop ties the exhibition together, just like the Tate Shop does the Tate. There will be display editions, badges, mugs and other memorabilia from the show, all for sale. Tinsel has also exhibited at Beyond the Valley, Fold Gallery, ADI gallery, The Rhythm Factory, V.T.O gallery, Redgate Gallery, Sun&Doves, Multiplex Studios, amongst others.
Dragon Bar : A real East End boozer that hosts an art gallery and living space(!) and is a breeding and stomping ground of artists and musicians - Tinsel is both.
