OFFICER KICKS

OFFICER KICKS

Jay (Vocal) Fisher (Guitar) Keith (Drum) Micky (Bass)

A few years ago, four lads met at a south-east London sixth form college and discovered a mutual love of Rock music coupled with a distaste for the classroom. Influenced by outfits like Gang of 4, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, The Jam and Red Hot Chilli Peppers the gang became a band.

In 005 they decided to change everything, took the name Officer Kicks (after a song) and began writing as a unit. Keen to make the record on their own terms Officer Kicks raised the money themselves and set about asking friends in the industry to help. Luckily they are well regarded.

They honed their stage craft internationally in '006 and recorded a dangerously fine debut album - Mixed at the famed Olympic studios and mastered with the legend that is Ray Staff (Led Zeppellin, David Bowie, The Libertines). Then signed a deal with Redemption records. It's due out later this year, but catch them up close before the chaos breaks out. "If there was ever a band to keep an eye on in 2007, its Officer Kicks". "They had the whole venue banging - 10/10" (Whisperin'n'Hollerin)

Officer Kicks speak for themselves; "Fanatical about making a record on our own terms we decided to raise the money ourselves. After hundreds of bring and buy sales, street theatre appearances and car washing marathons we saved enough sheckles to go to the best residential studio in the land. We spent three weeks perfecting an album that can only be described as unsafe, muscular and whip like. We are not really ones for studio trickery and prefer to take a more classic approach. We follow in the traditions of Oasis and Kings of Leon I suppose." - "Officer Kicks deliver catchy, addictive tracks with anthems that grow and grow" (Front Magazine)

This gang have massive rock songs, but are not afraid to indulge in a ballad or accidentally write a tune with no limits to it's potential appeal. They say: "We steer well clear of pretentious twattery and that in my book makes us O.K."
The Guide says they are "poised to take over the world". They have what Independent On Sunday call "Infuriatingly Catchy Songs", while Dave Berry of MTV calls them "One of the best live bands I have ever seen".

O.K. are more than O.K. You get the idea...

There's a growing buzz among music fans. Danny from Embrace recently invited them to play at Proud - to great reactions. They triumphed again in Manchester a week or so later when Mani invited them to play live on his Revolution Radio show. The station, dedicated to Manchester legends, has been giving them regular play. Audiences are lining up to help spread the word.

It is appropriate that before Officer Kicks unleash themselves in full on this year, that you get a chance to catch them up close and very personal...

This is what the classic, newer wave of rock is all about.

Nov 007:

Quartet who've won the approval of Mani from Primal Scream – and made the money to record their upcoming album by staging bring-and-buy sales, washing cars and staging street theatre – show off their muscular, catchy and
addictive alterno rock in the headline slot.

Dec 007 :

GET YOUR KICKS...

The wonderful Rocklands of NU.X knocked this up for us.

Officer Kicks have made their mark on 2007 with rioutous live performances, the feedback/radio sessions etc courtesy of recent debut single, Dog Day Rush, and their [kicks] army of a lively following. They are set up nicely for next Spring with new songs and recordings up their sleeves, single and album releases, a promo video, and tour dates.

Before then, there's a few chances to catch them in person at their last shows of the year;

Saturday 15 December - Dirty South, Lewisham (The View DJ) contact Officer Kicks for their cheap list!

Sunday 16 December (acoustic) at the Earwax Radio Session recording. 2pm, free entry, New Cross Inn.

Thursday 20 December the band and crew's Christmas knees up is at The Metro on Oxford Street. It's normally £6 entry for the gig and £5 for the club (with drink specials!) afterwards but Officer Kicks have a £4 friends guest list which gets you into the gig (show starts 8pm) and the club after. The show presents four of the hottest tips for 2008 and promises to be "a bit of a do" to say the least.

Friday 21 December, Officer Kicks last gig is at Manchester Apollo by invitation of Ocean Colour Scene.

The debut single, Dog Day Rush / Shooters Hill is available at iTunes etc via
http://www.myspace.com/officerkicks or pick up a limited CD (with extra track, Roses) at gigs.
