New TV Show : CELEBRITY FART SNIFF

Probably.

Or maybe not.

The Subways' Billy Lunn has said that one of the tracks on his band's new album 'All Or Nothing' is a criticism of all things celebrity. The singer says of the track, 'California', written shortly after the band returned from their first trip to the US: "That's really just a kick at the celebrity culture. We find it completely despicable. If you look back about a hundred years ago all the people who were famous were politicians, scientists, people who were contributing sometime positive. Science was a popular culture, whereas now Jordan's more famous than the fact that these people are trying to create black holes."

Kate Nash has admitted that she threw beer over the crowd at The Cribs' recent gig at SxSW. The singer, who is seeing the band's Ryan Jarman, says: "I threw some beer over some of the crowd at The Cribs gig over here the other day. I thought [the gig] was going to be amazing - but I got there and the band were amazing but the crowd were ****. It was just industry wankers with their clipboards. I threw a beer and it went over all of these industry people and they got upset. I was like, 'Have you never had beer thrown over you at a gig before? It's a Cribs gig.' Some of my friends have broken bones at gigs."

When Paul Artrocker mentioned the other day that he was thinking of doing a feature on Banksy, it got me thinking about the omnipresent creature. I'd say the best thing he ever did was send his agents out to invade HMV nationwide and subvert those Paris Hilton LPs. The doctored results were full of slogans ("Thou Shalt Not Worship False Icons"), music with titles like 'Why am I Famous?', and photos of Paris... with a dog's head.

I grinned a toothy grin that day, not just because I dislike the 'famous for being famous' celebrities, but also because they're shoved in our face every day by the popular press - and no one's fighting back. We're like Eliot Spitzer's wife, standing by our man simply by refusing to snip his balls off.

The radicals have a simple plan for Peaches Geldof, and it goes like this; "1. Maim. 2. Fillet. 3. Eat." And to a degree I agree with them, but then again, cannibalism is not necessary on moral grounds. Most celebrities are gone in the brains, you see. They love the cameras as much as the PR strategists love the way they get skulled on drink. They're doomed - but so are we, as long as we lap them up.

For now, the conundrum is solved by the Brian Jonestown Massacre. The first song on their new LP is called 'Bring Me The Head of Paul McCartney On Heather Mills' Wooden Peg (Dropping Bombs On The Whitehouse Lawn)'. It's a good start, and now what we really need is a band to come on stage with pigs heads on sticks. Only when those pigs heads begin to seep, will we see a return to traditional values.
