E&A&R : When we say we are presenting word of mouth/net DIY rising star tips, we actually mean it....
White Man Kamikaze (P.O.L.E. January) had their Smile At The Widows demo recently proclaimed one of Mark Lamarr’s Top 20 tunes of all time.
City Lights (P.O.L.E. January/June) helped launch the grrrl powered Pushing Pussy Records (The Fairies Band) and have a debut single on the horizon.
The Neutrinos (P.O.L.E. January) found themselves gracing the stage at this year’s British Music Week in Berlin.
Mad Staring Eyes (P.O.L.E. Feb) were flown out to Russia by one of it’s biggest bands, Blast.
Buck Brothers (P.O.L.E. Feb) created a new world record by playing 27 gigs in the space of ten and a half hours.
Saint Jude (P.O.L.E. March) went on tour with The Waterboys the following month and played the Royal Albert Hall
The Rocks (Made In Rocklands, March) rocked the house with an in-store show at Fopp recently, while from that same bill, Seeing Scarlet and Blah Blah Blah (also played P.O.L.E. in May) were stars at Rocklands Party, the former have just finished recording the album Mental Notes Part Two and the latter have picked up gigs with The Wombats, The Holloways, Kate Nash, Frank Turner and more. The Berlin Girls not only incited a stage invasion with their opening set but recently went on to win the public vote at http://www.myspace.com/unsignedradioshow to win a day's studio time, so look out for an EP!
Super Nashwan (P.O.L.E. April) just toured with Pop Leviand will play Bestival, Deathstar Preview
from the same bill are playing at Proud Galleries later this month and have a future show at Tower Records in Dublin
William and Nebraska (both playing People’s Day Free Festival), Popular Workshop
, The Veez (playing Glastonbury, Pride and Jersey Festivals) and more are picking up national music press attention
The Standards (P.O.L.E., April) went on to beat off 800 others to win a slot at Koko, then won that hands down to play Isle of Wight with The Stones (as you do).
Fight Like Apes (May The Fourth Be With You) have just signed a deal with Fierce Panda...
Not bad for the year so far, and all that’s not the half of it. Check out our next live entertainers. Loads of new friends and connections made, thanks as ever to the bands, djs, audience, venues and supporting media/industry alike for making Music Tourist Board a reality...
