Re: OOH! WAIT! 008!
12-Dec-007
Update
It’s the start of the world as we know it. The invisible industry of the invisible pound. Five years research by Music Tourist Board has proved that with a little charm and a lot of style, it can work at street level.
Having boldly gone where nobody had gone before (i.e. imagining a completely different way of doing things, which the shift in affordable access to technology augmented) and created something completely new, it’s time to start putting it to the test.
Luckily there are now so many people entwined into this organic family tree since Rocklands, Planet Water became a (sur)real art concept on New Year’s Day 003, that it’s a working cottage arts industry that can provide nearly everything that a self-marketing, high potential, talent could interact with to progress.
Here comes the Sixth year. The number 6 is an integral part of the situationist supernature telling this tale. So enough recording, time to put it all to the test. The Knights of Neu and Sharing Sheaths have stepped forward this month to be ambassadors of the planet water dimension in East Spanglia and Berlin. They are part of the multi-talent-tasking playing class friends that have made a virtual reservation (with the help of Transport For Rich London) on land in London’s South East X, but are also part of a wavelength that is cyberspace wide. It really isn’t about where your from, on line, but where you’re at.
To sum up a decade spent on a parallel dimension and five years as part of music tourist board- it not only works, but is in a position for any community to help each other to help themselves. Makes sense to start with the people that have given themselves the potential of an alternative future economy with their DIY machinations so far.
A couple of the bands have teamed up for shows together and looking to tour. With contacts at a number of favourite venues around the country for possible gig exchanges between peel street venue of the alternative rising star circuit’s favourites. Audience skills of documentation showcase at their multi-media contacts skill of exposure. The Knights Of Neu DJs will also bring their recommended bands from London also in mutual exchange.
The photos, writing, film, clips etc will form the programme and pre-publicity material for the non conventional convention in october, as well as contributing to the line up. Add people’s gigs together and ask if it’s ok to zine them with contacts to get involved.
Cottage industry music business via situationism. A few dates for more connections myface to myface
12 Dec : Many thanks to Maps Magazine for Music Tourist Board’s page today on new music’s advent calendar: www.mapsmagazine.co.uk with Blah Blah Blah, Seeing Scarlet and Guardians Of The Ancient Wisdom - Paul Madden was photographer and programme maker at Paradise Bar shows filmed by Digital Sneakers, and Maps Magazine does live music events, like God Is In The TV which is also a label, forum and like Maps an on line hang out on the friendlier side of alternative.
The Blue Light Distict and Digital Sneakers to Channnel6TV from January. Catch them at their offices or at Deptord Arms / Artspace.
22 Dec : Shire of Elsewhere is go. Tubes to NX end after the last All Ages at the Inn before RAR! Party Shank then went on to record a special New Year's Eve recording at New Cross Inn...
So really the next stage of the story is to see who thinks the surreal can be 4real. Anybody connected with the dates above would be a good start.
mtb’s local area has venues staffed by multi - talent - tasking playing class friends that a zine is on about. in may something for made in deptford, the community will make that into whatetever it is, with fun and imagination. in september a zine is an artful preview to be around during deptford design and deptford x as many of the events take place in london south east x which is simply the south east postcode and any number on the vibe. can also ensure it is in venues for new influx of students to find bohemian adventures.
TV Station for Lunar Tunes (broadcast under a different name to that on the moon) with comedians as programme announcers and whats on advertising occasionally rather than intolerably often.
A balance of positivity and escapism as there’s loads on the wavelength already. The Blue Light District have some of the material for the first one from their Best Of night and have said they can put something together. Just need to ask a few bands for videos.
Various venues have DVD projectors for screenings pre-gigs. Approx 20 minutes would be ideal. Any to sell for a bit over towards the door of the bands at these shows. A mix of short film, spoof reality, videos, lively life performance captured etc and contacts for them all in a zine.
TV Show. Intro. Riff and chorus of Ritual No.1. Bands playing are welcome to contribute jpgs. Approx 30 seconds (to time). Outro. Sorted. A huge amount of fillings to collaborate with BLD and DS about. This should be ready for a DVD to be at The Good Ship (a venue cum cinema cum tv studio of a bar) in January.

JAN 008 - Music Tourist Board calendar/diary
Ooh, Wait! 008!
1st January was five years of Music Tourist Board of Planet Water and the life that imitated it's situationist punk art. Massive thanks to everybody that has come and played, on or off stage, in front of or behind cameras, on land, on line and in spirit - globally. Still with cheeky grins and tongue firmly in cheek, the family has grown into a cross between industry and a piss up in a brewery. Chuffed to fug that legends of punk like Julien Temple and Don Letts totally get the vibe as much as the exciting newer wave of anti-scene stars and future makers.

Formed A Land....
affordable, alternative destination for locals and visiting friends alike - Costa del Thames. http://www.myspace.com/southeastx - Information / accomodation via The Birds Nest, London SE8. http://www.myspace.com/deptfordbirdsnest. Orphan Boy/Concrete Recordings were down from Manchester in December and gave it a go. Seemed to like the vibe (Orphan Boy also have an Xfm Session this month, listen out, you'd love some council estate punk you would). http://www.myspace.com/orphanboyuk
And... Here's just a few things ocurring this month...
We want (r)Evolution and we want it now.
Probably.
MTB joined with New Cross Inn / Deptford Arms and friends last year to create NXP. Those Naughty X People and friends of NX Promotions staged Rocklands Parties, loaded with ACE live entertainers and their friends, inspiring a host of happenings for Year 008
http://www.myspace.com/nxpromotions
It's officially THE YEAR OF FUN say The Re-Unionists who played the 5th Short Film Festival (The Mall, Soho, New Cross) on the Film Makers In Bands night. Vocalist/Guitarist Ben (Blaine Brothers) declared A Year Of Fun and Bassist Zee (Digital Sneakers) reasoned that a Summer Of Content would balance the winter of discontent. Are you with us...?

Talking of Fun, check out the immensly enjoyable Blah Blah Blah (following tours with The Holloways, Wombats, Kate Nash n more last year, among lashings of live appearances, look out for a highly anticipated single release http://www.myspace.com/blahblahblahandfriends
14 Jan : Earwax Radio - relaunches as a fortnightly event. Their eclectic newer wave podcasts from planet's time zone, tip who is happening next and mix it up with live sessions, interviews and banter, as well as staging live recordings and DJing live radio style at various events. If you deserve to be massive in the future, get in touch with them.

16 Jan : West London - First gig of the year by the (must-see) Dexy & The Hand Me Downs. Having caught attention from around the world, The Spinto Band, The Decemberists, The Wedding Present and Elliot Smith's band, as well as the seeds of a most dedicated following, these songs are ready for an unsuspecting public. So recommended... 10pm, The Troubador (Johnny Cash played there, check out Dexy's charisma up close...), Earls Court, London £5 entry. http://www.myspace.com/dexyspace

24 Jan : gALLery launches properly in New Cross this month, too. A massive addition to the amount of art activity in the area including rising star artists shifting their work via music bar galleries New Cross Inn / Deptford Arms since Artful. Talking of Planet Water's arts festival with live music, a new Art/Music event starts this Autumn in East London, too... before that, look out at New Cross Inn. Last year it was the pancake day revolution that turned things around locally, they’ve a corker up their day-glo sleeves this year...
25 Jan : The Run-Up are playing at Kings Cross Water Rats. They're such a new band, and such a good band, so hooray. They're on home turf, Saturday 16th February, for the second Rocklands show with Obvious Books and Attack Switch Attack.
26th January : Nebraska and Ten City Nation launch their singles The Great Divide (Angry Liberal Records) and Exhibition Time Again (R*E*P*E*A*T Records), respectively, at Islington Bar Academy with fellow alternative idols Dexy & The Hand Me Downs and Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring at Feeling Gloomy Club.

The short, sci-fi film, We Will All Be Aliens by Seeing Scarlet was nominated as a video of the year.. The song is taken from their corking album of dark pop tunes, Mental Notes, and a live favourite. The band create occasional live events and have started the year as the most talked about topic at the music industry's Record Of The Day site... New Recordings up now and album in February http://www.myspace.com/seeingscarlet
On 27th January it's the MTB ULU Sunday Session. An early evening gathering at Central London's cheapest bar (plus all draught pints are £2) with the Newer Wave circuit's faves. "Come on ladies, I want to see a little flesh tonight..." Rock's truly arresting party outfit, Officer Kicks, storm Shoreditch. It's free entry. Classic tunes and band contact at http://www.myspace.com/officerkicks
The Magnificent Maps Magazine - celebrated it's 2nd Birthday Party on 5th January with a live gig at London Luminaire. Instigators of the increasingly popular (and now increasingly copied, must be good!) New Music Advent Calendar and like God Is The TV (see below) a multi-talent-tasking on line adventure of freshest aural thrills http://www.mapsmagazine.co.uk
God Is In The TV Zine - launched it's Singles Club in October, to great success (10,000+ copies downloaded so far of debut by Time.Space.Repeat) and now the Small Crew release is picking up great press. GIITTV (also an event promoter) is the zine, forum etc of choice for friendly networking http://www.godisinthetvzine.co.uk
NXP shows Bands, MCs, Promoters, Artists, Writers, Photographers, Film Makers, Entertainers and Exhibitors of all sorts, join the mailing list and get your NXP card for cheap list / free entry to events, hopefully shave a few quid off local going out this year.
