A board member in our association would like to put on an addition to his personal townhome. His/hers may be the deciding vote in passing this project. Can he/she vote? Can he/she put up the motion for a vote?
When must a board member excuse themselves from voting?

I know it sounds like a stock response, but your governing documents should cover this sort of thing. If not, you might want to consult legal counsel for clarification. Ethically board members might want to excuse themselves from such situations just to eliminate the appearance of any improper action. Melanie Phillips,CPM Tailor Made Property Services, Inc., AMO
