The Message Fairy
It's not exactly a ritual, but when my golden retriever died a few years ago, my family planted a "golden" rose bush at her favorite hangout spot. It keeps her memory and spirit more alive, and I sometimes sit beside it and talk to the bush as I talked to her when she was alive. Something similar might help.

Re: Goodbye to a Beloved Companion We all are allowed time on the Earth to love and be loved. When your time is up and you are called back, go forth willingly and not look back with sadness to what has ended, but with gladness that a new beginning has arrived. Await other loved ones and welcome them when they too arrive. So shall it be for Midian, and when you are called as well.

I forgot to set this up to be notifed when there were responses.
I miss her, but she was ready to go, and she purred until the end.
The vets office was wonderful & made a donation in her name for pet medicine research, to further help other pets with cancer.
