Owebooks, I have to give u credit where it is due. The reply u gave was voluminous but perfect for the occasion. I just bought a pair of books, one for ATW and one BTW. The reading should be more enjoyable with your words ringing in my ears. emoticon

Re: Young Man Blues

cindy,

I found BTW's Stewart Farrar giving me a wry and helpful read in "What witches do" and I asked about AEW books, they had none. The store manager I was at gave me a foul look when I asked about the AEW books. I also picked up "the Heart of Wicca" by Ellen Caannon Reed. I have yet to read it due to the ridiculously long hours my slave driver of a manager has me working. Hope this finds every1 in good health for June

The link you provided doesn't work anymore. At least not for me,lol. I was wondering if you or someone could point me in the direction of info or books or whatever media to help me understand the differance between Witches and Wiccan a little more. I read your post, but I don't even know what some of the things you were talking about mean. Consider me a neewbie, although I have been interested for years, I never got to do much studing. I know there is alot of belief based on Earth(meaning respect for, and of). What is a christian witch? Isn't that an oxymoron(sp?)? I mean the bible say witchcraft is wrong etc. etc. Was it different in that time? Any help would be apprecated. Thanks a bunch.

Re: Young Man Blues

So does that mean witches don't "need" a "higher power" to practice or believe and wiccians do?
And what you 2 put in to Tarot, is that pretty accurate as far as history and actual values and beliefs? And is it only based on witches or does it add a little bit of other kinds of witchcraft values/beliefs into it?

Re: Young Man Blues

When I was doing my research for the tarot statue I studied Wicca and witchcraft to get a better understanding of the character and where she comes from and why she acts a certain way: similar to how n actor studies for a role basically.

I wanted to make sure I didn't inadvertently disrespect the practice and practitioners of Witchcraft or Wicca...

What I noticed was the myriad of similarity Witchcraft has with Buddhism (at least the form I practice)at least in terms of they sensibility of being one with the universe and everything that surrounds us.

At least that was my understanding: I am by no means an expert! emoticon
