Re: Tarot #52 is Stores Sept 24th!
Hi. I haven't posted here in far too long. But now I have to.
Congratulations. Having just read #52, I now officially regard this latest story arc as the best story of the entire Tarot series. I LOVED THIS STORY!!!!
Thornwic is a fantastic adversary. He is just so cool. A perfect foil for Tarot, and I can't wait to see him again.
But it was more than just a fight between good and evil. Tarot's moral dilemma was complex and disturbing, and I like that.
And then there's Jon, the Skeleton Man. Too often is he made to look a bit of a fool next to Tarot. But not this time. I LOVED the way he just came in and started kicking fairie ass. No fancy magic or swordplay, just a boot to the face! Jon has never looked so hardcore and so badass, and I loved that!
And the art. One thing I enjoy about tarot is the way Jim's art has steadily improved with each and every issue, but with this he truly surpassed himself. Expressive characters, beautifully paced action, and gorgeous backgrounds. What more could you ask for?
As for this last issue, the conclusion: Jon rocked hard, but I also enjoyed Tarot's inner monologue, as she finally understood and accepted the truth of Justice, and her role as the Swordmaiden.
And the ending with Boo was hilarious. She is such a bad girl.
Loved this issue. Loved this story. Love this series.

Re: Thoughts on Tarot #52 Beware Spoilers!!!!!
So I finally got issue 52 (I know, I was so behind on my Tarot fix!). It was so touching to see Tarot realize fully how much in love with Jon she is. I think many of us can relate to her fear of losing her identity if she married Jon, but I'm glad to see her realize that such a fear is unfounded. Also brava again on combining the beauty and spirituality with the erotic to create a very positive image of shared love, respect, and passion. I especially like that Raven is aware of this tenderness between Tarot and Jon, and halts Boo from interrupting it. Raven certainly has done a lot of maturing in the shadows, and now I can't wait to see her in issue 54 (ah, how I've wanted to rewrite some of those fairy tales, myself!).
Thanks also for the that juxtaposition of justice, and for showing that even though Tarot has beauty, courage, strength, magick et al, she is still flawed in ways and must change in order to grow and fulfill her destiny.
Hrm...you know, I just realized that if Raven were interested in getting involved with a male, she might have a lot in common with Thornwic. His black and white view of things, and strength, not to mention his ability to do damage, might work really well with her world view. Also they both emphasize the magick realms/witches over the realm of man. Hrmm...

Re: Thoughts on Tarot #52 Beware Spoilers!!!!!
Personally, I'd love to Tarot encounter a superpowered Christian. Not someChurch-funded zealot..just someone out to protect the flock, so to speak. Not a popular concept around here, I know, but it occurs to me tha tif in Tarots Universe ONE religion has amazing powers, maybe the other religions should be somethng more than the butt of pro-wiccan jokes.

Okay Dude....
someone is drinking snarky soda
...whatever path you take-find art that makes you think and feel joy or less lonely...if our art does not please you...please take your chaos elsewhere...
You don't understand our intent...
But it seems yours is kinda angry and misplaced...
I myself am not Wiccan (I'm a Witch)...neither is Jim (he says he's a Jimnist)...Tarot is one of the charaters that struggles with her own living stew..
Best find a book that you can relate to more and that makes you peaceful...
and suggestions from our Readers?

I don't think he was being snarky, Holly. I think it's actually a neat idea. I mean, there would be Buddhist superheroes, Hindu superheroes (who would probably look really cool), and so on. I've long thought that it would be cool to see other cultures in Tarot, like an African witch, a Chinese witch, Native American witch, Indian witch, etc. You know, get a little variety into the artwork for the comic, and open up these other cultures artistic traditions for use. Jim does the Gothic/Castle look so well, it'd be cool to see his version of an Asian Pagoda, Mayan temple, and so forth.

Re: Thoughts on Tarot #52 Beware Spoilers!!!!!
my point is
you don't go up to Bobby Flay and say ya
your BBQ and southern style is good but I think you should cook Japanese now....
not only that- i deleted some other of this person's comments cause they seem to be just lookin for a fight
Let Jim cook in the flavors he loves to express in...that's why we started our own company...nooo editors- just our lovely Neil...who checks our spelling and the sweet Beth too!
if you have an idea for a story...go for it!
Then it's yours to cook

Re: Thoughts on Tarot #52 Beware Spoilers!!!!!
I must say I also enjoyed 52 more then most of the others.. I feel it opened up MANY new options for the characters because now we all know that someone else thinks that they are taking the role tarot is and that perhaps its taking the role in a different direction but its more so like a "What if" and I LOVE THAT kind of story... Like Tarot could have turned out the way if she wasn't raised the way she was...Thornwic was very by the book and to the point he truly believed he was right and doing no wrong.. I look forward to seeing him again.. and as for the comment about raven being with him... two personality's like that I don't think would work ... they both are too Dominate for each other.. hehe
