VITAMINS & WHAT THEY DO
VITAMIN A (Beta Carotene) important for vision, bone growth, reproduction, cell division and differentiation. Regulates immune system to help prevent infections.
THIAMINE (Vitamin B1) improves circulation, blood formation, carbohydrate breakdown and production of hydrochloric acid required for normal digestion.
VITAMIN B-6 (Pyridoxine) required for protein, red blood cell metabolism, nervous and immune systems and to manufacture hemoglobin. Helps convert stored carbohydrates to glucose to maintain normal blood sugar levels when caloric intake is low.
VITAMIN B-12 (Cyanocobalamin) helps to maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells. Also used to make DNA, the genetic material in all cells.
NIACINAMIDE (Vitamin B-3) improves circulation, reduces cholesterol levels and helps metabolize protein, sugar and fat. Reduces high blood pressure, increases energy, and maintains healthy skin and digestive system.
PANTOTHENIC ACID (Vitamin B5) participates in release of energy from carbohydrates, fats and protein, aids in the utilization of vitamins. Improves resistance to stress, helps cell building and development of the central nervous system, helps the adrenal glands and fights infections by building antibodies.
BIOTIN aids in cell growth, utilization of protein, carbohydrates and fats, and helps the body use other B-complex vitamins. It also promotes healthy nerve tissue and hair.
VITAMIN C (Ascorbic Acid) powerful antioxidant protecting DNA, membrane lipids and proteins. Essential for healthy teeth, gums and bones. Helps heal wounds and form scar tissue. Prevents scurvy, builds infection resistance, aids in prevention and treatment of common cold, strengthens blood vessels, aids in iron absorption and is required for the synthesis of collagen.
VITAMIN D helps to maintain normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorus and aids in the absorption of calcium, preventing bones from becoming brittle and soft. Also prevents rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults.
VITAMIN E protects cells against effects of free radicals which are believed to contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease and cancer.
CALCIUM builds bones and teeth and helps maintain healthy gums. Regulates heart rhythm, helps transmit nerve impulses, assists in blood clotting, maintains nerve and muscle function and may lower blood pressure. Also helps prevent cardiovascular disease.
MAGNESIUM plays an important role in maintaining normal heart rhythm. Required for Calcium and Vitamin C metabolism and helps convert blood sugar into energy.
IRON is a component of proteins involved in metabolism and oxygen transport. Most iron is found in hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to tissues. Smaller amounts found in myoglobin, a protein that helps supply oxygen to muscle and in enzymes that assist cells in their biochemical reactions.
IODINE aids in the development and functioning of the thyroid gland, regulates the body's production of energy, and helps burn excess fat by stimulating the rate of metabolism.
COPPER aids in the formation of bone, hemoglobin and red blood cells. Works with Zinc and Vitamin C to build elastin, an important skin protein. Copper is important in healing, energy production, and taste sensitivity and is also needed for healthy nerves and joints.
ZINC is necessary for protein synthesis and wound healing. It is also needed for the development of the reproductive organs and prostate functions, and is important for bone development. It is part of insulin and other important enzymes that help fight and prevent the formation of free radicals.
MANGANESE maintains a healthy immune system, regulates blood sugar, helps build strong bones and is used in protein and fat metabolism. It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function and steady heart rhythm. Involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis. Important to carbohydrate metabolism and may influence release and activity of insulin, the hormone that helps control blood glucose levels.
CHROMIUM works with insulin to metabolize sugar and helps stabilize blood sugar levels. It is needed by the body for synthesis of cholesterol, fats and proteins.
POTASSIUM helps prevent stroke and assists proper muscle contraction. Works with sodium to regulate waste balance and normalize heart rhythms. Important for maintaining stable blood pressure and helps regulate the transfer of nutrients in the body.
SELENIUM is a part of antioxidant enzymes protecting cells against damaging effects of free radicals. Free radicals, produced during normal oxygen metabolism, can damage cells and contribute to the development of some chronic diseases. Selenium is also required for normal functioning of the thyroid gland and immune system.
TAURINE (Non-Essential Amino Acid) is a building block of amino acids. Also an important component of bile, which aids fat digestion, absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and control of cholesterol levels.
MALTODEXTRIN (Low Glycemic) is an easily digested carbohydrate made from natural corn starch.
SODIUM CASEINATE is a high quality protein extracted from milk, containing eight essential amino acids.
HIGH-OLEIC SAFFLOWER OIL is recognized as one of nature’s most valuable vegetable oils. It reduces cholesterol and plays a critical role in prevention of coronary artery disease.
OMEGA-3 fatty acids may help improve insulin sensitivity, improve heart health, reduce high blood pressure, help prevent cancer and help diminish depression.
SOY FIBER is an excellent fiber source derived from soybeans and offers the benefits of both soluble and insoluble fiber.
CALCIUM CASEINATE is a high quality protein derived from milk.
MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE is a nutritional form of magnesium.
LECITHIN is an important component of all living cells in the body. It prevents arteriosclerosis, protects against cardiovascular disease, improves brain function and promotes energy.
CHOLINE CHLORIDE is essential for optimal functioning of the nervous system, the liver and the brain.
CARRAGENAN is a natural thickener derived from edible seaweed.
FERROUS SULFATE ( Iron Sulfate) supplies the body with the iron needed to produce red blood cells.
ZINC SULFATE is a nutritional form of zinc.
MANGANESE SULFATE is a nutritional form of manganese.
RIBOFLAVIN (Vitamin B2) is used by the body to promote the release of energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It also aids in maintaining integrity of red blood cells.
FOLIC ACID is used by the body for the production and maintenance of new cells. It is especially important during periods of rapid cell division and growth such as infancy and pregnancy. It also helps prevent changes to the DNA (one of the building blocks of cells) that may lead to cancer.
SODIUM SELENITE is a source of selenium, an important antioxidant, which helps protect the immune system.
PHOSPHORUS is needed for bone and tooth formation, cell growth, contraction of heart muscle, kidney function, and utilization of vitamins and conversion of food to energy.
FOLATE AND FOLIC ACID are both forms of a water-soluble B vitamin. Folate occurs naturally in food; Folic Acid is its synthetic form. They are both used for the production and maintenance of new cells.
M-INOSITOL helps to reduce cholesterol levels. It also helps prevent hardening of arteries and is vital for metabolism of fat, cholesterol, and for hair growth.
L-CARNITINE helps the body use fat as an energy source. It helps lower blood triglyceride levels, assists in weight loss, and enhances the effectiveness of several antioxidants.
