Re: GREAT BALLY TALKERS....The bally is sophisticated advertising.
John you are one of the epople on here that makes me feel real good about being in this industry. You appreciate the world we live in so much and try very hard to keep the public interested in it. My hat comes off to you...you are truly with it and for it.
I look forward to more correspondence in the near future.

Re: GREAT BALLY TALKERS....The bally is sophisticated advertising.
Hi Scott,
Thanks for all the Kind words.
The things you do are the things that will keep it ALIVE on the inside.
It is my privilege to help keep the candle burning.
The world has lost so much of the history of this industry. Many people have past through the lots walked down the Midways and have passed on to that big lot in the sky. Without a word written down about their lives.
I hope that by what we all do today. Our Children, Grand Children, Great Grand Children, etc. etc. will have the opportunity to know about the Great people that work, have worked, lived their lives and loved the Sideshow.
Thanks for all you do to Keep It Alive On The Inside!
Wishing you the best,
John

Re: GREAT BALLY TALKERS....The bally is sophisticated advertising.
I was shooting on the CNE Midway today, and I was explaining to the camera man where a bunch of things came from historically. He seemed interested, but you can never tell for sure. I thought, however, that since I had a captive audience, I might as well give him a little lesson.
The conversation of course started out with 'so how do you know these guys?', because I seem so 'normal' to people who don't know me well. I've had conversations with numerous people about carnivals since people found out about the mermaid, and almost everyone says they'd prefer to go to an old fashioned style fair than the stuff that's around now. They have no idea what a sideshow is, except for the freaks part. But they're fascinated by it when I start talking. They seem to be pleasantly surprised that they still exist. The biggest problem is that people don't know how to seek them out. I really really really want to change that. As far as I'm concerned, you haven't lived until you've seen sideshow.
