Re: Tattoos in Hebrew
I am wondering if anyone could provide me with a Hebrew translation for "strong tower".
If context is significant, I am referencing Proverbs 18:10, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe."
If you can help me, a post here would be great, or an email to schrojo (at) telus (dot) net is even better.

Re: Tattoos in Hebrew
I think I've determined what strong tower (Prov 18:10) translates as. I will post it here, and please correct me if I'm wrong. I've consulted several lexicons and interlinear and Hebrew Bibles, and this appears to be correct. That said, I'm far from an expert in the Hebrew language, so if I'm wrong, I'd rather find out now than after I have this inked on my arm.
When I get some time, I'll post the specific steps I followed to research it on my own; this should assist some of you other folks who are looking for translations of specific biblical references. I have also researched 'living sacrifice' in Greek (Rom 12:1) and will share my steps on that as well.

Re: Tattoos in Hebrew
My previous post was slightly incorrect. According to the interlinear Bibles I've consulted (online and real to life books), this is correct for strong tower:
For those who don't see any Hebrew or Greek text on the interlinear Bible and lexicon at http://bible.crosswalk.com, make sure that you have the fonts installed. Once you've done that you should have no problem finding most of these words that you're looking for.

Re: Tattoos in Hebrew
Hey, I hope someone can help me! I wanted to get a tattoo in Japanese, then I realized that hebrew is much more suited to me, and it will always be a reminder of my Jewish heritage.
I can't find the words i'm looking for anywhere though.
If anyone can give me an example of the words
"Dream"
"Love"
"Eternity"
that would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks so much!!

Re: Tattoos in Hebrew
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to add a friendly warning to make sure your Hebrew is spelled correctly before getting a tattoo. I have written a number of blog posts on incorrect Hebrew tattoos -- some of which came from this site. (The posts may be seen at http://biblical-studies.ca/blog/wp/category/tattoos/)
I do not want to be flooded with a bunch of requests for spellings, but what you can do is check with a seminary or bible college professor in your area. Also, make sure you have the Hebrew the correct direction; Hebrew reads from right to left.
Take care.
