lip tat
I've been craving a tattoo on the inside of my bottom lip with some connection to God's purification of his children... a reminder to glorify God in all that I speak and all that great stuff. My biggest inspiration for this is in Isaiah 6:7, so I've been trying to decide on what to get... like the chemical makeup of coal (no, it looks weird), the verse (too straight forward), a tiny TINY image/representation of this (what in the world could I even do with that notion?)
So, I was wondering what you people have for ideas. I looked up "Coal" in latin and it's "calculus" so that's out too. Maybe hebrew? I REALLY love this idea, but I can't get it narrowed down!
Thanks for being such wonderful peoples. I'm so glad I stumbled upon your site and can't wait for it to be done.

Re: lip tat
Oh yes, I'm new here so I feel I should introduce myself. My name's Joshua, I'm 20 (21 in April) I've been raised in a Christian home all my life (and am SO very thankful for that... it's awesome), I have a few tats already which I'll post later and am an avid writer of poems, which can be found on my myspace (myspace.com/a_squirrel).
I'm currently living by myself near Downtown Houston while all but my oldest brother (I've got two) are across this green Earth. My brothers are between an hour away and a plane to NY away while my parents are in Germany while my dad's working for the airlines over there. I don't know any other people who are so interested in tattoos as I am, so I kind of feel out of place sometimes. I don't really know many Christians my own age that I can get in contact with regularly such as a youth group or anything, so keeping God as close as I can is getting more and more important to me and tattoos are a wonderful way to make sure I'll never forget He will never leave me and never forsake me, even though it may feel that way sometimes (because even though I know I've been blessed tremendously, I still get a case of the Mondays every once in a while).
I feel I've jabbered on too long, so I'll cut it off right now. If you've got questions, just ask and I'll oblige.
Love ya!

Re: lip tat
וְסָר עֲוֹנֶךָ
Is this the correct Hebrew for "thine iniquity is taken away"? I got it from this site: http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt0.htm
You can click whichever Old Testament book & have both English & Hebrew right there together! I just want to make sure I grabbed the right part.

Re: lip tat
My name is Laura. My husband, Matthew, is studying Hebrew and says that it is correct. He also said that there are other Hebrew fonts available. I have a couple tattoos. I don't have a lip tat, but I did pierce my tongue as a reminder that "whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue shall keepeth his soul from trouble" (Prov 21:23).

Re: lip tat
Hi, Ms. Laura.
Interesting you said you have gotten a tongue stud, and referring to Prov. 21.23.
I never heard that reason being given before. Did you have any reaction, positive or negative?
(I've heard of permanent make up, which I guess could be regarded in some instances as lip tattooing; but more likely it's called extra pigmentation, or permanent lipstick. Anyhow.)
Take care.

Re: lip tat
Thanks for the reply!
I also read that lip tattoos lose 40% of the ink in the first year after getting one. Does anybody know how accurate an estimation that is and if losing so much definition (and subsequent touch-ups, of course) is worth it on such a small area? I'm just a little aprehensive now that I've got that statistic in my brain and would like some input from some peoples 'cause I don't personally know tattoo afficionados or anybody to give counsel on this kind of thing.

Re: lip tat
I've never seen or have been able to render a tattoo on the inside of the lip with any real detail, and the info you read about the fading is true. I recommend getting the tattoo somewhere else.

tongue piercing
I had more positive reactions than I expected. The only real negative reaction is my own, for my inability to guard my tongue at times
