Re: CTA myspace account!!! Come add us!!
If you're checking out MySpace, check out the Wauhobs' page - you'll either love 'em or hate em:
http://www.myspace.com/wauhobs
My favorite Wauhobs song is "He looked beyond my fault and saw my need" which is on their profile.
The Wauhobs - Country Style Revival
by Mike Delaney (1985)
Once upon a time there was this funky little fundy gospel church in Sioux City, Iowa, called the World of Gospel Temple. Pastored by Thomas Wauhob, and assisted by his son, Ted, the whole Wauhob family loved to play the old time gospel songs. One day they decided to cut a custom (very) LP to share their musical genius with others. They called it "Country Style Revival," and it was destined to become one of the all-time CCM classics.
But it started out a sleeper, for no one discovered this hidden talent. So, being enterprising, the Wauhobs sent a complimentary copy to Dottie Rambo, one of whose songs they butchered, er... rearranged slightly. Legend has it that she was so impressed with it that she played it for "the" Mr. Benson when that company had yet to hear much less sign deGarmo and Key. He too agreed that it was seminal work, and that he had never heard anything like it before. But the pioneering work of the Wauhobs was too progressive for those repressed times, so they remained unknown to all but a chosen few who appreciated avant garde CCM.
A few years passed, and then some of the other Benson family artists rediscovered their custom (totally) album. Sandi Patti declared it to be her favorite album, and Joe English was said to have purchased 300 for Christmas gifts! Well, it wasn't long before the repressed album needed to be re-pressed. And then, as chance would have it, the venerable "Wittenburg Door" propelled it to greatness by writing a lengthy review of it in the Aug/Sept 1984 issue, praising it as a kind of new-wave country gospel. To commemorate its rediscovery, the WD obtained the Wauhobs permission to reissue a limited number of copies, 500 to be exact, for collectors. For a paltry $8.95 each you too can obtain this prized custom (extremely) album for your collection. Sure to rival Jeff Johnson's "Icons" in collectible value, this is your only opportunity to get one: [not available anymore]
Basking in the well-deserved recognition that had been so long in coming, the younger Wauhob decided to launch a solo career. So it came to pass that Ted cut a custom (entirely) cassette of double length featuring songs like "I'm on My Way to Canaan's Land," classics that gave he and his father room to stretch out and demonstrate fully what they were capable of. Please pardon the idiot of a printer who spelled it Ted Hauhob on the cassette. This has nothing to do with Ted's penmanship or the fact that he aspired earlier in life to be a cryptologist.
Recent appearances at Disneyland at which they wore Mickey Mouse ears for their first video have solidly established them, and their album should start charting soon. This should be ensured by their forthcoming appearance with Steve Taylor and Some Band in November in Dallas at a national youthworker's convention. At press time it could not be determined whether Steve would open for the Wauhobs or vice versa. A movement has begun at the grassroots level to request that they be booked to appear on the sidestage at Cornerstone '86. All who hear their work marvel at it. Maybe you've never quite been able to stomach the Goodmans, Florida Boys, etc., but if so I can guarantee that you'll love the Wauhob Family.

Thanks for adding me. I was going to ask about the picture that defines you on myspace. Is there anything special about that? What does it mean? Thanks. Love me.

Re: CTA myspace account!!! Come add us!!
lol....I posed a blog for you and others who have asked about the picture.
I know it may seem kinda controversial. But once the meaning is understood it truly is beautiful. More importantly....its gets many people asking the right questions and opens up dialogue for growth and for two or many more to share words of encouragement, victory and love.
thanks a lot for asking....God bless
