Question...

I've been debating on getting my clit or hood pierced. I've heard there's a 50% chance of losing feeling in your clit if it's not pierced right. I suppose I'm wondering, what are the risks and benefits of either, care, and healing times for each, and pricing. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Re: Question...

Piercing the actual clitoris is rarely a good idea as the structure of the organ is usually not substantial enough to support a piercing. Also your body would be creating the piercing fistula (hole) thru your clitoris which could indeed result in a lack of sensation in the organ.

Bottom line... you would need a realllllly big clit for a piercing to be successful.

Piercing the clitoral hood eliminates the possiblity of damage to the clitoris (provided you go to a piercer with enough knowledge of the female anatomy to tell the difference), because the jewelry is only in contact with the clitoris and not physically through it at any point. Some women have occasionally experienced a lack of sensitivity with clitoral hood piercings in the same way that women who use vibrators can experience desensitivity, ie: over-stimulation can result in decreased sensitivity. This lack of sensitivity is not permenant damage to the clitoris and sensitivity can be restored simply by removing the jewelry (or putting the vibe away in a drawer for a month or so ).

The benefit of any genital piercing is typically increased sensitivty. I've always considered the greatest benefit to any genital piercing to be an increased interest in the area from one's partner, which is always a good thing.

Aftercare and healing times for hood piercings can be found in the AFTERCARE section of the PIERCING pages of our website here. Look under Body Piercings Aftercare.

Pricing for female genital piercings is usually $75 including a standard captive bead ring.

I actually just had this done by Linda in March and for me it's been nothing but wonderful. I haven't lost any sensation or sensitivity.

Re: Question...

So what if any real difference would be noticed between a vertical or horizontal hood piercing?

I seen a pic on BMEzine of a combo vertical and horizontal hood piercing... if I were to decide on the vertical and horizontal combo, would you recommend them to be both done at the same time? Or do one, let it heal then do the other? And would that be $75 a piece then?

Thanks for all the helpful info!! If anyone would like to include how much they loved/hated the piercing let me know!

Re: Question...

When you say "noticed" I'm going to assume you mean noticed in terms of sensitivity by the wearer, in which case the most noticeable difference between the two piercings, other then the visual appearance, would be that the vertical piercing places the jewlery underneath your clitoral hood and in more direct contact wtih your clitoris while the horizontal piercing places it over your hood and would not have as much contact with your clitoris, thereby making the vertical placment the typically more sensitive piercing.

Its best, especially since they are such fast healing piercings, to do either the one or the other and allow it to heal prior to having the the second of a VCH and HCH combo performed. This is help eliminate the possiblity of an abscess forming between the two piercings. Guys can get away with doing multiple piercings in a sitting because the piercings can be placed farther apart. Being able to do both piercings as a combo is going to depend greatly on if your anatomy is able to support both piercings.

Personally, I love my VCH piercing and have had it for almost 5 years now, without a single problem. It was waaaaaaayyyyy easier to get and to heal then my nipple piercings.
