vertical labret repierce?

I have had a vertical labret piercing for almost two years, and I believe that it had been very slowly migrating. Tonight I decided to take it out...I had been thinking about doing that for quite some time. My question is, how often do those piercings migrate? Is it possible that it migrated because it wasn't pierced right where it should have been? I really do love that piercing and would love to have it again..but don't know what the risk is with how common that piercing migrates. Any info would be helpful.

Piercings migrate for a number of reasons, and sometimes regardless of placement or aftercare.
A vertical labret piercing can be very similar to a surface piercing on some people, depending on the structure of your lip, and so your anatomy is going to play a big factor in determining if the piercing is pre-disposed to migration.
The other issue with a vertical labret is that it is typically played with much more then other piercings, since its right there on your lip where you can nibble on it endlessly. Even in a well placed, well healed piercing, that sort of stress can trigger a slow migration.
Without seeing the structure of your lip, it is impossible for me to say if you would have the same issue should you decide to re-pierce it, however, give your body a few weeks to repair the damage and if you are local, stop by the studio so I can take a look at it. If you are not local, stop by a reputable studio other then the one you were pierced at initally to get a second opinion as to if your lip is suited for the piercing.
