posticon Healing Tattoo

Sorry to be flooding your forum. I was going to call the shop about this, but you don't open for another 2 hours and I was worried I would forget.

I just got a tattoo there on Saturday and I have been cleaning it with antibacterial (Dial) soap and putting Aquaphor (at Stacy's suggestion) on it three times daily.

On the car instructions it says at 7 - 10 days it should begin peeling like a sunburn and then I should switch to lotion. It's only been 4 days and when I woke up this morning it was starting to peel a great deal. I figured the best thing to do was carefully wash it as normal and apply the balm very carefully so as to not pull of more skin or disturb the already chunking off peices.

I just wanted to check in to make sure this is the right thing to do. Should I switch to lotion already or should I continue washing and applying balm as usual as if nothing was going on.

Thank you for the help.

Re: Healing Tattoo

The care sheet is just an average, since everyone is different. But you should continue with the aquaphor for the 7-10 days. And then you can switch over to the lotion. And its normal for it too peel earlier. Just usually the latest is around 7-10 days. So don't freak out your doing good. Continue washing it 3 times a day, and just continue following the care sheet and you will have beautiful tattoo at the end of two weeks. So good luck, and keep up the good work.
