 Man & kids best friend
When I was a kid, there was no leash law where I live and everybody let their dogs run free. Cars for the most part drove slowly and drivers would be on the lookout. Accident still happened though and their were always teenagers speeding around, but dogs seemed to somehow co-exist with everyone.
All us kids got to know the neighborhood dogs and we pretty much enjoyed having them around. We had two sets of friends--the human kind, and the 4 legged ones. I think kids today really miss out on how much joy these friends of ours provided.
Like when I used to deliver newspapers. I would usually have 8 or 9 "friends" following me around be the end of my route. All the dogs got along with people better and all the people knew how to act around dogs. It made our young lives so much more fun.
Anybody else got any memories of playing with neighbors dogs when you were a kid? Did it seem somehow better back then?
