Katrina

I knew before I ever read the first word, or heard the first cry, that somehow this catastrophe would be blamed on President Bush and it would all be his fault somehow.

Of course I was right. Let me put this disaster in perspective. Louisiana knew for decades its major city could face total devastation yet did nothing to protect its citizens. Where was their emergency plan? Why weren't emergency shelters put in place like they were during the cold war? You know the ones stocked with food and water, and built to withstand devastating forces, yet able to take in the areas citizens just in case the worst happened? They used to call this emergency preparedness.

Why weren't mandatory evacuation procedures call for beforehand? Wouldn't that have eliminated the death toll and the need to rescue hundreds of thousands after the fact? Is this the Federal Governments responsibility to figure this all out for every city in our country? Of course not! It's up to local and state governments to have a plan of action and act on it. But Bush is being blamed. How pathetic.

And you hear the racial card being tossed out now—that it is because the survivors are black and this is the reason they are not getting proper aid. I've heard the sickening retort of the Mayor cussing about the aid response. I am listening now to former senator Braun saying race was a factor that the country doesn't care about black people. Here are some facts: New Orleans' population is over 67% black and has a black mayor, yet it is somehow white people's fault that they are in this fix. All this is simply not the truth and a distortion of lies. Black people were in control of the votes there and their government. It is the people's fault and those they elected they were not prepared and no one else's.

Then you hear that most of the people left behind had no means to get out or were too sick to leave. That is not the case either. If they can buss thousands of kids for school, they could have used those same busses to take people to areas of relative safety. But their government left them down, not President Bush.

All those people you see on the news walking around floating their belongings in plastic tubs or those looting whatever they can could certainly use those same legs and start walking out, but they would rather wait for the government to give them something. They would rather shoot at rescue personnel and fire on police, but white people and President Bush are to blame for the slow response.

I heard a survivor on CNN a few minutes ago talking about how she was not being helped, how terrible it was that she had to sleep in a car for three days before being moved into a hotel in another town. She complained that all she had to live on was money people gave her. All the agencies were letting her down because they couldn't tell her where her relatives were and how horrible she was being treated. Well, lady, you can blame this on Bush like so many others are doing. Oh, and if you haven't noticed, you are being helped. And rather than sit around complaining you aren't being given enough, try doing something for yourself like trying to get a job where you are now rather than waiting to suck off the government tit some more.

More on Katrina later…..

Yeah, the whole thing is pretty damned sick. I mean people are dying out there, literally crawling over dead bodies to steal the people's money. And the FIRST thing that people are doing is trying to exploit this for political gain. Like you said, if we're going to play the blame game, might as well blame the people who built it in a hole.

It's sick, but it also shows us the true face of the "radical" left these days. Dead people? Let's blame it on Bush and hopefully get more democratic voters.

we turn to dust (dust to dust).
My name is like the kiss of death

we turn to dust.

Instead of the people down there helping themselves, they would rather wade around and loot or just stand there waiting for the government to give them more.

And another thing, might not the blame be that those in charge down there figured that if people were left to fend for themselves, maybe more government money might flow into their coffers? Hmmm...just maybe those that want to point their fingers at Bush, might want to explore this avenue since I see those in charge down there so ready to point at another and divert the attention from themselves.

Oh Yeah!!!!! The Bush administration's response was examplery. It will be a model for years to come on how the federal government should respond to a regional disaster, such as a hurricane or a terrorist attack. We all must hope it does not happen to our general area, which should work for most of us as the disaster will probably not happen to us. If it does, we now know we are on our own. Just what advantages does being a member of this country give us when a tragedy strikes? I have, myself, taken care of this problem so why should I care? I have three homes spread across the country - one of them should always be safe. I have a helicopter and pilot awaiting my every whim and he can immediatly evacuate me should the need arise. If you don't enjoy this position it is only because you are lazy and unmotivated.
