Out of Body Experiences

Nearly everyone has heard about out-of-body experiences. Most would associate it with near death or other traumatic experiences. The truth is an estimated 25% of the population has had an out-of-body experience at least once. A smaller group has reported leaving their bodies several times. I guess that makes me part of a minority. As a kid I would get this feeling from time to time. I welcomed it, even wished for it sometimes, but I could never place what it was. My body would buzz, and I felt as if I was sinking into myself. If I thought about it, it would increase in intensity, and if I was distracted it would go away, even if only momentarily.
I hadn't known this feeling to be anything more than 'that feeling', but finally one evening while in the car with my parents it happened off and on, and then for an instant I was outside the car. I was a point of sight extended from my body traveling within the car. I mentioned this 'feeling' to my mother, and probably explained pretty poorly that I was seeing from outside the car. This was the last time I mentioned something of the sort.
For years I didn't even realize that this is what had been happening. In fact it took 10 years for it to fully dawn on me. That these were actually what people called out-of-body experiences (OBEs). I knew I had been having these experiences, and what I came to call 'that feeling', but didn't place any real value in them. I came upon a website 10 years after my first memorable experiences that smacked the sense into me. And I could actually validate these things that had popped up here and there throughout my life. The sensations described, the ways in which one sees while out of the body. It let me remember.
