Walleye Tournament Modified Open - May 28 Possibly
It was brought up at the Team Bass meeting and worked on at the January Club meeting. Here's the current proposal on our Modified "Open" Walleye Tournament . Please respond if you like the idea or have additional suggestions - it's been a long time since the club has done a non-bass tournament.
Oneida Shores Launch - Oneida Lake only (No Locking)
May 28, 2006 Sunday - needs to be confirmed
7 AM to 1 PM - weigh-in at 1PM
Up to 3 guys to a boat - 1 must be a PAID member of Crown City. we're hoping to encourage earlier dues payment and encourage non-members to see what we're all about - so contact your fishing buddies and let's see how many "teams" we can get. We probably have some non-boating members who can help out non-member boaters if they need a member for there "team".
Best 3 fish weighed-in per boat (you can keep 3 per person, but only get to weigh 3 total) No dead fish penalty. We want to eat them if you're willing to share.
Live Bait is okay.
Possible Fish Fry after weigh-in (No! Not the leftover bait)
$50 per boat registration, plus launch and maybe something for food prep. (almost no details about the cash or prize money has been worked out)
All of these plans are still in the process of being worked out. Please throw in your 2 cents - we may listen, but the ultimate decisions are up to the "tournament committee" - but please weigh-in we're rusty at this type of tournament.
We're looking for sponsors for sodas/water, fry batter mix, door prizes and whatever else you can think of. Please run your ideas by Steve or Joe before you go sponsor shopping so that we don't double up on sponsor requests.
Please keep checking back for updates.
We're hoping this will be a fun event for everyone.
I'm a non-boater looking for a boater. Any offers? SteveA

Re: Walleye Tournament Modified Open - May 28 Possibly
i think the limit of (3) three fish is alittle short in the competetion side thats only one fish pre person in a boat of three. i understand its most likely for the fun and getting together but lets get the tourneyment blood flowing and at least raise it toa two man limit of 6

Re: Walleye Tournament Modified Open - May 28 Possibly
Skeeter - with 2 in your boat you can keep 6, but only weigh 3. The tournament is for fun and it's supposed to be a Team effort. This is the first year. Give 3 a try and if enough people want to raise it we can go to let's say.... 4 next year. Some guys in the club never fish for Walleye. It would be embarrassing if I didn't bring in a limit... I mean, if "they" didn't bring in a limit.
Also we're not trying to fish the lake out - we're assuming that most of the fish that are kept will have a hard time surviving in our small bass livewells, that's why we're having a fish fry - none of the fish will go to waste. - Steve

Re: Walleye Tournament Modified Open - May 28 Possibly
I like Skeeters idea. I feel like making it a 6 fish limit would make the tournament more fun. How hard is it to go out and catch 3 walleyes you can do that while fishing for bass and maybe thats what your going for by making it a three fish limit. Catch them accidentally while your bass fishing. I dont know it just doesnt make much sense. Seems as though everybody here is good enough to go out and catch a few walleyes. And the live well thing, squezed alot of em in before never had em die.

NO!
Keep 6 if you have 2 fishermen in the boat. Keep 9 if you have 3 fishermen in the boat. Weigh-in your heaviest 3 - one weigh-in per boat.
We might change this rule for 2007, but for 2006 we will be weighing only 3 fish. We will also be eating any fish teams wish to donate to the fishfry.
