NewsFlash! Copper Now Over $2.00 per Lb
There are 146 pennies (pre 1982) to a pound. Copper is now $2.00 a pound. I will let you figure out the rest but it is a good time to hit the banks and start sorting your change. This is a no brainer!

This is an amazing revalation. Thank you for post. How many pound do you need in order to get the $2/lbs price?
I run into a fair amount of old copper wire when I am out. I wonder what it is worth - maybe less since it has the insulation?

Mike,
My math say 154 pre 82 pennies will yield 1lb of copper (give or take for some wear).
I haven't heard of anyone willing to buy or melt yet but now is the time to save them anyway.
