I'll Start
I am a teacher in Morrow County Oregon.
For the last few years I have taught at Ione K12 School in Morrow County Oregon. I teach high school business classes, middle school tech ed classes and elementary/middle school music/band. I am also the school webmaster, and the school technology coordinator. I serve on site council and have over the years been on other committees. My passion is curriculum construction and web design. I love research and putting together lessons and resources for myself and others.
Personally, I enjoy spending time with my hubby and my kitties (I have eight of them). My own kids are grown and on their own - no grandkids yet.. not even any "in-laws".. so .. even though I am old enough to be grandma.. I'm not.
I like to paint and create.. but it has been ever so long since I have done it. I love creating web pages for people in my spare time and creating graphic art and design.
I love research and learning and have learned many of my business and computers skills on my own because I was motivated to want to know things.
I have a BA degree in Music Ed. from Western Oregon University
I have a Masters in Ed from Oregon State University
I have a Masters in Business Admin from National University
I have lived and taught in Oregon, California and Nevada. I have taught in both public and private schools. I was co-admin in a private school for about five years.
Fav TV shows: Law and Order, Andy Griffith, Diagnosis Murder, Crossing Jordan, CSI, Flying Nun, Gilligan's Island.. (actually most any of the old shows I like), Anything on HGTV .. Food Network, Animal Planet.. Court TV.. etc..
Books.. I find I rarely take time to read novels, though I love doing it.. I read manuals and instructional material most often. Last novel read was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Favorite Novels --anything by Frank Peretti
Religious Persuasion: Christian. .. I currently belong to First Church of God (Anderson) in Pendleton, Oregon. I play piano/keyboard/organ most sunday's. Past affiliations (I have attended various churches depending on where I lived and where I felt 'at home'): Free Methodist, Nazarene, Evangelical Free, Evangelical Church of North America, Community church

Oh, I see I forgot something I was going to add..
I have taught for Morrow Co. for five years.. the first year I was half time in Ione and half time in Heppner. .. The remaining four years just at Ione. Next year I am being transferred to Heppner High School.
Before that I taught for several years at Echo High School.
I sub taught at Pendleton for a while and before that I was co-admin and computer/music teacher for Sonshine Christian School in Newport, Oregon.
I taught for two years for Clark Co. S.D. in Las Vegas Nevada and worked in the business sector for two 1/2 years also. I also sub taught (short and long term) in Vacaville-Fairfield California one year.
I co-owned and operated ABC preschool and Kindergarten in Newport for a number of years..
My first full time teaching job was at Toledo Oregon for Lincoln Co SD

Happy to be here
My name is Maureen, I live in Florida and work as a public school speech/language pathologist. Prior to moving to Florida I lived and worked (8 years as an SLP)in NJ. That is where I received my education. I earned a BA in Communications from William Paterson College of New Jersey and my MA in Communications from Kean College. I have learned so much over the years about Communication disorders, but I am always eager to acquire new skills and teaching techniques to improve myself professionally.
On Wednesday three colleagues and I are going to the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. While there I will attend seminars mostly about Autism and Aspergers Syndrome.
I am really excited about getting away and hope to share what I have learned with the rest of the staff at my school.
I am married . . . recently celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary, and am mom to Tricia who is 22. I am a huge animal lover, and we share our home with Ceri, a Shepherd/Chow mix who I dearly love.
Work takes up a lot of my time, but on the weekends I like to spend time on the computer learning about medical research and taking long walks with Ceri.
Some of my favorite TV shows include: American Idol, Dr. Phil, Oprah Winfrey, Nancy Grace, Court TV, Investigative Reports, Cold Case Files, Dateline, Snapped, Forensic Files, and America's Most Wanted.
My dad worked in law enforcement prior to his death in 1979, and the criminal mind has always fascinated me. I love to read true crime books by Ann Rule in my spare time.
I would love to hear from anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in speech/language pathology or currently employed as an SLP. I don't know all of the answers, but I believe in reaching out to help when there is a need. I consider myself a nonjudgmental person with a good heart.

Welcome
So glad you joined us..
Though I teach Business, I have a speech and hearing connection. On one of my days off I work as bookkeeper for and during the summer attend camp at Meadowood Speech and Hearing Camp.
If you know of student clinicians who would like an awesome experience and some clinical hours that they will never forget.. refer them to us.. it will change their life, I promise.
