What Made You Sad Today?

It was Wed night now but didn't get a chance to start this thread.

My friend Sue called who I have known for nearly 23 years. We used to be heavy into the punk rock scene then.
We knew a guy called "Positive Steve the Incence Man" he would give people sticks of incence at punk rock shows to make them happy and bring the cheer. Sometimes even just to people on the street. That was how we met him.

He moved a lot over the years but Sue still kept in touch with him, throught occasional letters phone calls and rare visits.

She got a post card from his mom last week. Saying he had died. She didn't say how and Sue got the impression it had been suicide, becaused she knew he had been very depressed. Lonely where he was living, about how his life was going where he was, and because his dad died last year.

It made me sad. I was not that close to him, like to my friend Anna who passed in Dec., but still... He was always such a funny and goofy person back then. Made us laugh.
I feel bad that things went that way for him.
I feel sad that no one may remember him or how he wanted to spread random acts of kindness. I hope some people are out there who maybe didn't really know him, but remember him giving them an incence stick and that it brightened their day and they might say to a friend. "One day a funny guy gave me some incence and it made my day."

I'm sorry to hear about your old friend, Deni. It's sad to think how some people can feel so lonely that they feel that suicide is the only option open to them. I just pray he's at peace now and that he no longer suffers from his depression.

You are going through quite a lot lately, with all these deaths and with your health. You're a brave woman who a lot of us here have come to know and love. Just know that we are here for you, any time.

My personal job here is to put a smile on your face. emoticon

Thanks dear that means a lot.

It was so strange to get that news the other night. I know Sue had mensioned he'd been depressed the last couple years, but I haden't seen him in at least 10. I really have a feeling he'd been like that all along and was using humor to cover pain as people sometimes do. I feel bad he wasn't able to get any help and he was in FL so even Sue couldn't do much if she suspected it was that bad. A few other people I've been aquainted with over the years have committed suicide and it's always so sad. emoticon

I'm glad you think I'm brave sometimes I worry all I have going on makes me a downer eventhough I try to ballance it. Thanks again dear, it helps to know you are there.

Nah, you're not a downer. Not at all! In fact, I like the fact that you feel you can open up about these things. Having a virtual place to vent is wonderful, and having friends who somtimes won't judge you is also great. Like I said, we're here.

God, Deni... that's really sad

but like you said, the important thing is to make especial people like that known by others, recieve the good spirit in our lives and spread the kindness all around. Make their lives worth it remembering them in all the great things we can actually do, since we are still here and be have been blessed with the power of will and action, inspired on who they were while they lived.

I think is beautiful how he had that great gesture of giving something to everybody who crossed his path, even strangers. The kind of depressions that lead you to belief there is only one way out of your problems takes a long time to develop, how many years would that soul suffered in silence? How much strength it took him to put aside the struggle and think about others?

You are such a wonderful person, Deni, and I believe that is why God has surrounded you by angels, because that is where your beautiful heart belongs.

I'm so glad we met emoticon

I had a concert tonight, and it was the most embarrasing concert of my life (so far).

We were several people who played the same voice, but our leader did it all wrong and before we knew it, we were all out of it.

It was terrible, and I'm SO embarrased by it! emoticon

Like I said to Erika on OBCB, she is also a musician, I guess the frustation comes with tha job. Is hard for a performer to be satisfied after a presentation, there will always be a slip in your eyes because you are your greatest critic, that makes you get better and sharpens your skills but the load is a heavy one.

Many times the public doesn't notice something is going wrong until some weird exchange of glances takes place between the players. Remember, no matter how much of a music lover we all are, the is nothing like a trained ear like a musician's, like yours. Perhaps they noticed something wasn't like it was supposed to but they didn't found it such a great mistake.

And you were under someone else's lead, you did your job great and all you were supposed to do, you followed. emoticon
