THE WORD for August 25
Look to Him
"Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, you who seek the LORD: look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the quarry from which you were dug." (Isaiah 51:1)

I read about a church. They worked hard, endured trouble, hated evil, and tested so-called leaders to ensure that what they taught was in line with the Scriptures. They patiently held to the name of Jesus and they did not tire of their efforts.
And this is what Jesus said to them, "But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first." (Rev 2:4-5)
We know that he is merciful and full of compassion. But when our efforts exclude the one love we have that counts- then we are in desperate need to repent of our works and walk close to Jesus where our deeds will carry the sweet fragrance of his presence. Let's turn to the Lord.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your Spirit. Help us change the way we do things and turn to find our life in you. Please forgive us for taking your grace and love for granted.
Help each of us to examine our hearts before you for this one purpose- are we growing in love with you? Help us return to the joy of our life in you. Amen.
Today's very great and precious promise
To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. (Rev 2:7)
We have God's Word on it.
