THE WORD for August 29
Troubled Waiting
Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. (Psalm 69:1)

God may at times keep his children from deep sorrow and desperate trouble. But not always. I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me. (Psalm 69:2)
Often we don't know what will happen. Often our hearts ache. Though we cry out, God does not immediately bring relief. I am weary with my crying out; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God. (Psalm 69:3)
Though the world was dead in sin, Jesus came at just the right time. He will bring you through in his time, with his love, in his mercy to reveal his glory to you. Let's pray.
Answer me, O Lord, for your steadfast love is good; according to your abundant mercy, turn to me. (Psalm 69:16) Lord, you know the end from the beginning. You care for us with your life. Help me- only you see the way. Grant me endurance to wait upon you. Amen.
Today's very great and precious promise
They who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
We have God's Word on it.
