THE WORD for September 2
Thank You Lord
Then Jesus answered, "Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" (Luke 17:17-18)
______________
Before the storm hit we kept hearing people from the major networks, "Pray for the best, prepare for the worst." Hurricane Gustav hit- the Lord had mercy.
In our verse above, Jesus tells us that out of ten lepers that he healed, only one returned to give thanks. Is it fair to say that one out of ten times we thank the Lord for answering our prayers? I did not hear any of the major television networks say, "Thank God for answering our prayers!"
It has been said that a thankful heart is a happy heart. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1Th 5:16-18) Let's give thanks to the Lord.
Lord, thank you for hearing our prayers. Thank you for sparing the Gulf Coast from devastation. Help us to thank you in the midst of all circumstances, even when things look to be terrible. Thank you for loving us. Amen.
Today's very great and precious promise
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Rom 8:28)
We have God's Word on it.

Wouldn't that be fantastic to see all the news reporters, who anxiously anticipated mayhem and destruction actually praise God for keeping all those people from harm?
Sadly I don't think it will happen.

Re: THE WORD for September 2
Not likely.
I shudder when one even says "our prayers are with you". Chances are, they haven't actually prayed in years, if ever.
