What If?

What if you could read minds? What if you knew the winning lottery numbers one day early? What if you could live forever? What if you were breathing your last breath right now? What if you had already eaten your last meal? What if you had your conscience for a reason? What if you knew what the reason was? What if it were a beacon - a warning of an impending doom? What if justice were not corrupt, but something true - something eternal? What if the standard for life were a perfect Law you already knew? What if in the stillness of a silent moment you knew you had broken that Law?

What if life is really a test, a series of choices, in which only one choice really matters? What if we ignore the warning light which pulses when we lie, steal and lust? What if even our hatred is counted as murder? What if pain and pleasure are only shadows of greater sensations to come? What if there is a Heaven? What if there is a Hell? What if there is a just Judge who knows even our thoughts? What if He holds us accountable for every thought, word and deed? What if our idea of justice is only a shadow of something coming - where the prison times are eternal and no bond can be posted once the sentence is passed? What if death is the fine for breaking an eternal Law? What if someone paid that fine for you? What if Jesus Christ is that Person? What if He defeated death by rising from the dead? What if you could turn from your sin, put your faith in Him and live? What if He gave you your conscience to point you to Him?

Every second two people die... What if this is your second?

Onyx,
Is that what you base your assurance of salvation on?

Re: What If?

Then I die, knowing that I was baptized by one holding the priesthood of God. I die knowing that I have a testimony of Christ as the Saviour of the world. That I have an eternal companion, and an eternal family. I know that I will be reunited with my ancestors and friends. That I will have the answers to questions like where is Amelia Earhart? What ever happened to my missing uncle.

My salvation? God will judge that, all I can do is do my best to strive for the unobtainable, to be like Him.

I believe very few people in this world KNOW what their eternal reward is. I know what I hope for, what I have faith in.

Onyx2201 ...

I knew you wouldn't respond to this Mel.

Take in consideration the time zones, he's on the west coast, your in Texas, he has limited time at his work , maby he has things to do when he gets home. I guarentee he will respond.

He is also my friend and seen him repeatedly being attacked for telling the truth , not to mention little responses like yours, try a little patience please.

I'm not really sure what you're looking for, Onyx. What do you want me to respond to? emoticon

I believe that the Bible reveals a lot to us, and we can have assurance of salvation.

Gary I waited three days for a response. On another thread I answered him in 3 minutes, and he never acknowledged the response, I found that disrespectful, given all the times we at the other thread responded in a timely fashion. At that time Mel was complaining about not being answered.

Mel I am not completely disagreeing with you, until we have passed the final judgement of God all we have is the hope of salvation. Unless we are completely with out sin.

Gary I am glad he has a friend.

Mel you sound tired, get some rest.

I graded finals all day

Yes, even I have a friend! And I am tired - dealing with a sick baby, and she gets mean!

This post came straight off of a Gospel Tract, and is just something to reflect on. If you want a specific response on something, let me know. Otherwise, I just figured you had answered me and that was that.

Mel I have raised 3 three sons, have 3 grandkids and teach junior high.

I KNOW cranky., I know mean.

Of course you have friends, I never doubted it for a moment.

Take care of baby girl, breathe deep, (small hint, this is probaly not the time to pray for patience, everytime I do that the situation gets worse.)

Praying for your sweet baby girl. I hope it is nothing serious
