Joyce Meyer
quoting I like to watch Joyce Meyer preach.
For your informational purposes, i will give you some info on JM, dont rely on what i say about it personally but take the info and make your own conclusions about her ministry.
J M is a Word Faith proponent, Word Faith proponents believe and teach that man is a “little god” and as such has the same creative power of God, who spoke the world into existence. Based upon a misunderstanding of Genesis 1:26-27 (in which God makes mankind in His own image), coupled with Psalm 82:6 and John 10:34 (in which the phrase “Ye are gods” is used in reference to certain humans), Word Faith teachers have concluded that one’s words will alter or shape one’s reality.
Meyer’s seminars, books and tapes are extremely popular. Concerns are frequently raised as to whether or not she should be classified within the heretical Word Faith Movement. Though there is diversity of belief and practice among those who might be classified as, or consider themselves, part of this group, they typically will agree on several key doctrines. Meyer teaches or has taught at least four of the more prominent of these:
1. God creates by using His faith through the power of spoken words.
2. Man is a “little god” capable of creating in the same fashion as did God.
3. Man, through faith-filled words, creates or causes to come to pass that which is spoken. Thus by one’s spoken words health/healing and wealth/prosperity are created.
4. Jesus earned our redemption, not on the cross, but in hell.
J M quotes:
“Just as dogs have puppies and cats have kittens, so God has little gods. Seed remains true to nature, bearing its own kind.”
"Romans 4:17 says God gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things as if they already existed. He created the world with faith-filled words (see Genesis 1). We are created in His image, and we can also call things that are not as though they are. We can speak positive thoughts about ourselves into the atmosphere and thereby ‘prophesy our future.’

Re: Joyce Meyer
Wow. I watch her almost every day and have been to one of her 3 day meetings, and I have to say that I've never heard her say anything that would indicate the kind of belief that you posted. I'm not saying that she hasn't, just that I've never heard her. Uh..I'll have to listen more closely. Thanks for the heads-up gary.

Re: Joyce Meyer
I have read several postings/e-mails from Dale Thompson, he is the lead singer/band leader for the Christian heavy-metal band Bride (one of the more popular ones). It is widely known in Christian music circles that Dale has believed in Christian Universalism for several years. Universalism is considered heretical my most main-stream Christians, and much of the "Universal Salvation theory" cannot truly be support by the bible. However when Dale talks (or preaches), he makes a great effort to minimize (or de-emphasize) the difference in his beliefs and mainstream Christianity. I believe he does this to appear more like a main-stream Christian. Possibly Joyce is doing the same?
Not to belittle Joyce Meyer or her ministry, but something about her has always bothered me. Maybe it is just because she always looks cross (never really seems happy).

Re: Joyce Meyer
There are several professional organizations out there like Watchman and CARM that research in debt diff. people and religions/cults. They dont give it one sided, they give the facts and give a biblical response and so far they have not been wrong according to the Bible

Re: Joyce Meyer
Since I am now having doubts about her ministry, I don't think I should be watching her anymore.

Re: Joyce Meyer
She is a funny, well versed woman. I am not a proponent of women "preachers" so I will just say she is a good teacher. As with ALL ministries, take what is good for you and leave the rest for God to sort out.

Wow, this is news to me. I'll definitely check it out. I've listened to her many times, and have read a couple of her books.
Personally, I believe our words do have power in them, and we can speak things into existance......IF it's God's will. Really, just praying with faith, but I don't believe in "little gods." More along the lines, "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." Hope I quoted that scripture right. Anwyay...I'm rambling.
