Question about Profanity
I have been trying to find (in the bible) if it makes reference anywhere to using profanity.
I know about not swearing as in oaths (ie Matt 5:37..let your yes be yes and your no be no...). But that is not what I'm talking about looking for help for not using cuss words.

This was the main verse we used on the teens when we were youth leaders:
Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

How about this scripture:
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
I find looking to the scripture and putting God first helps a lot not just for profanity but in every part of my life

I can't help but take this question a little bit further if y'all don't mind.
There's lots of things we should not say and do that is not in the bible, word for word. For example, the bible does not tell us to not wear shorts but it does tell us to dress properly. Some will say, "but the bible doesn't say, don't wear shorts so I'm gonna wear shorts!" This is defiance in my opinion and contrary to the word.
It is a rebellious nature to deliberately go against the instructions and the convictions of the Holy Spirit. What's not in the bible, word for word, "is" in the convicting power of the almighty through the Holy Spirit.
After having said that.... new Christians aren't aware of a lot when it comes to behavior but when they get in the word and conviction in their hearts, then the transformation begins.
We all struggle in our transformation, I am not without sin for sure, probably the worst sinner here, ewww, but my heart is in the right place. God knows my heart, my struggles and my desires.
This is why we judge the tree "by the fruits" because to judge otherwise is a sinner judging a sinner.
Like, "Why are you wearing shorts you little (------), who the (------) do you think you are?! Get the (------) out of my face and change clothes! You're a Christian for (------) sakes!!" kind of thang, hehehe.
