American Idol
I don't usually watch it, but I heard that they sang "Shout To The Lord" at the end of it last night. I was encouraged and thought that was pretty cool.
Until I heard that they removed the Name of Jesus from the beginning. Why would they feel the need to do that?
"My Jesus, my Savior, Lord there is none like You...."
-vs-
"My Shepherd, My Savior, Lord there is none like You..."
Subtle, but I don't like it.
Jesus says in Scripture, "If you are ashamed of My Name on earth before men, I will be ashamed of you in the kingdom of heaven...."
Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do.

Re: American Idol
Here is the verse I was thinking of....
Mark 8:38
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."
And here's another good one ...
Philippians 1:20
I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

Re: American Idol
I haven't seen it, but I recorded it for Java. She was impressed that they sang the song on the show at all.
If you would have been watching Dolly Parton was on last week and she sang a song about having God to lift her up, and gravity to keep her grounded (and yes she used the word "God"). Later she told the host (Ryan) that she had Jesus, and that he (Ryan) had Simon Cowell. Ryan looked at her point blank and said "I got the short end of the stick". It was great.

Re: American Idol
OOH, I didn't see that, but I did hear clips from it on WOTMR. It was awesome! I can't wait to see what Todd Friel is going to say about them singing that song, but removing the Name above all names, the King of kings and Lord of lords - Jesus Christ!

I don't think he will be very positive about it.
But as Tony keeps saying, Todd is a "glass half empty" kind of guy.
